  • Great bed, one small issue

We love this bed. It was easy to assemble and looks great. The only problem was it only has two center supports, so the bed would creak and if you sit on the end of the bed you will not be supported. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Easy fix - two 9-inch 1x2's screwed into the center slat.

  • Great Solid Wood Mid-Century Bed

My wife and I purchased this bed frame to go along with a new 14-inch King Slumber Solutions Memory Foam Mattress that we also purchased through Overstock and it is really stylish! We read the majority of the reviews before purchasing, to see what we were getting into and nothing in them scared us away or wasn't something that we had already planned to handle. Particularly with the support of the bed. The bed arrived in 7 business days and came in 4 separate boxes, however, we had it set up in under 30 minutes. It comes with roughly 12-14 slates to support the bed and these appear to be peoples biggest qualms about the quality of this bed. However, having read the reviews, we were prepared to deal with them. First, as your are spacing the support slats, it is going to appear like you have too many. What I would recommend, and what my wife and I did, is space them according to weight. For example, the majority of the weight from the bed and yourself will be from the middle moving towards the headboard, i.e. your waist to head. So space the slats to where you end up with more supporting that section of bed. Obviously, on the average person, your legs weigh less than your upper body, so fewer support slats are needed towards the bottom of the bed. Now, that is not to say, don't put any. Here is how it worked for us, we had 14 support slats with the King Size frame. So I first spaced the slats 5 - 6 inches apart, moving from the foot of the bed to the headboard. This landed me with 2 extra slats, so I placed that additional support at the head of the bed. Next, we purchased two twin size pieces of 1/2 inch particle board from Home Depot for just under $30 and placed these on the support slates to form a solid base for the bed. This provides additional support by giving the bed a solid uniform base on which to displace yours and the bed's weight. It also helps a memory foam bed retain its form by preventing the memory foam from "muffin topping" between the support slats. Sure it is a little extra cash and time to measure for the particle board, but I know it will be worth it in the long run. All in all, we are loving the design and look of this bed. It is solid wood, with a beautiful finish. Initially, it looks like it is going to sit really low, especially with a memory foam bed minus the box spring, but even without a box spring, it is only a few inches lower than traditional spring mattress/box spring combo. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a mid-century modern style without paying the $1500-$3000 for a similar solid wood frame bed from your big box furniture store. Last, as with everything my wife and I have bought from Overstock, read the reviews! They will save you a bundle in time and money! Look at the good with the bad and make your decision then. Reading the reviews allowed us to move forward with purchasing the bed and doing a little DIY, not to MAKE the bed sturdy, it already is, but to do something that will ensure it lasts far beyond what is expected. Also, go out around your local city or town and look at comparisons to get a good idea of what you want and if you want to forgo any savings to be able to get something you can see, feel and walk out the door with.

For starters the price was right in the ball park i wanted to spend and it being solid wood, can't go too wrong. Mind you it isn't solid piece of wood, but peices put together, but at leaset it isn't particle board. so here are my pros and cons: -Note: I have a memory foam mattress- Tools: Electric drill and a socket wrench (the provide tools that work pretty good, but increase building timeframe) Built in about a hour and a half (including prep time, laying everything out before building) Pros: Price-allowed me to buy a box spring that i highly recommend getting. You can get them for less than 300 if you shop around. Style-dark tobacco brown wood looks great and gives a unique look that you don't get in similar priced furniture Strength-holds up two adults, sometimes dogs and a bun in the oven no problem. Buy a box spring though, read cons. Puting it together was pretty straight forward, but you'll need to a second hand when you get to the slats Cons: Slats start to sag over time and a memory foam mattress really helps you know that it is happening. Bought a box spring and never looked back. Sleeps low too, my boxer kept staring me in the face when i was woke up each morning. Bought a box sping and never looked back. Buy a box of self drilling wood screws (about a inch and a half in length) to keep everything sturdy, you'll want to screw in each slat. With a boxspring i still recommend doing this. there are two small legs tht attach to two slats that provide center support, if you move the bed around at all; make sure the legs are recentered. I've already moved once with this bed and it still going strong, something else you don't get in this price range. Hope this info helped >M

  • excellent bed for the money, solid and sturdy

I was looking for a king size bed frame with a midcentury modern feel. This bed looks exactly as pictured and is gorgeous! I was worried about the quality of this bed for only $^)), but I was very impressed. It is solid and study. Assembly, while not super-easy, was definitely not difficult. It took my husband and a friend about 30 minutes to set it up. I was also worried that this bed would be too low to the ground without a box spring, as we like the low-profile look. We have a king pillowtop mattress that is about 10 inches in height (no box spring), and it's perfect! Love this bed so much I'm considering ordering some other pieces in the collection!

This bed is very solid, and a good height. Seems higher than it looks in the photograph. I was concerned that overall the bed would be too low to the ground. Not at all with a mattress, topper, and bedding. Perfect height, and you can still see several inches of the head board when the bed is made. I love the simplicity of this style....very versatile.

Was looking for a headboard and frame that was low enough to sit just below my window frame, and this did! The solid wood construction makes this so worth the money. We have a 12" thick mattress which makes it a good height from the ground (no box springs), and we are pretty tall. For a king, the headboard is quite heavy, definitely need two people. One of the center support legs cracked moving the bed into place... we just screwed it in to the frame with additional screws.

Love it! Beautiful, sturdy, solid real wood and easy to assemble. We chose to place a support under the center rail at the end because it did not connect to the footboard. Probably not necessary but in king size we thought it was a good idea.

  • Great, quality King bed, Solid frame.

My Dad helped me put this together and it was pretty straight forward. As others stated the middle beam (that runs from headboard to the foot of the bed) does need some extra support on the ends with an additional 2x4 on each end otherwise the beam is left hanging on the edge with no support for the tail ends. We just cut some pieces at**** ***** and screwed them in. My gel topped memory foam mattress fits perfect and is very cushy in it. I have noticed that the middle slat has already split in the middle of the actual slat layers. It has not broken but the pieces of wood that are formed together to make one single slat has separated between layers. That made me a little nervous and I might screw in additional 2x4 piece to stop further separation. I don't know if it was a defect because I (140lbs) and my toddler son have only been on it so I know it was not due to excess weight. Otherwise this is a great piece of furniture, the price is amazing for the quality. I would not hesitate to buy!

Very easy to put together. I was worried that there were no notches to show where some of the screws were to be placed, but it was simple to figure out. The size of all dimensions were just right for our new house with a smaller master room. Our 14" memory foam mattress fits snug and nearly doubles the floor height. If you had a thinner mattress, it might not look right or be comfortable climbing in or out.

  • This bed works great w/ our tempurpedic set!!

The bed and night stands were easy to assemble and the color and design are just like the picture! We are soooo pleased with it and the value can't be beat!! We have a normal tempurpedic box spring and a tempurpedic mattress....they work great with the bed and you still can see the head board even though the box spring brings up the mattress level. Our bed is heavy and still feels very secure. There is no squeaking or creaking and the bed frame feels very solid! With our king size mattress measurements it fits just right....no extra room to tuck in the bed spread and that is A OK since it is much easier to make the bed!

This bed is very heavy and sturdy. It was pretty easy to put together by myself. The support could be better in there are 2 blocks of wood that screw into middle of the slats and with any movement of the bed the blocks move (buckle). I have hardwood floors in the bedroom and the bed will slide easily. Overall, I am very happy with this bed. It's beautiful and is exactly what I had in mind when I purchased it. I will be adding additional support just for peace of mind.

I debated on buying this bed because the legs looked too small for me. But I went ahead and did it and couldn't be happier! It's a beautiful wood bed with a wonderful tobacco color. It was very easy to put together. WARNING- it's very heavy and you will need two people to put it together. My husband and I did it in about 20 minutes. My ONLY complaint is that the slats don't have pre drilled holes and the end slats have hardly any support. We fixed this by buying a foundation from Amazon. Otherwise beautiful piece of furniture! I ended up ordering both dressers too!

This bed is sturdy and low profile. Although it does include slabs we added plywood on top because the bed is too low to fit a boxspring as well without covering the headboard. We currently have a 13" mattress and looks great, I have no complaints. The bed frame is great (looks and quality). It does need additional beam support as others have commented. The two center beams are useless. Be prepared to replace them. In addition, I was very impressed with overstock service, they replaced the headboard in two days as the original one shipped had a dent. Everything considered a good buy.

This item came damaged, twice. I ended up just keeping the 2nd one, because I didn't want any more hassle. Like some other reviewers mentioned, it doesn't have much support. We went to and got some lumber and reinforced the slats and legs. We're not handy, so the bed still creaks sometimes! It's pretty, though!

Bought this item and was so excited for it to come. It came with a damaged headboard but rest of the pieces were perfect. I hopped on phone and talked to super helpful customer service agent and was offered a discount or replacement, as it was pretty badly damaged I reordered and it came in two days earlier than expected and less than a week in total (AWESOME)!! It came in good condition, the color is beautiful and this had to be the easiest piece to put together, I did it alone and I’m a 40 yr old women (mind you I did need help carrying the headboard up the stairs) everything lined up and it looks fantastic!! I was able to use it with my adjustable bed frames, so that was a bonus. So, all in all even tho it was a little hassle in the beginning, the staff did an excellent job, the product was even better than picture and it is really sturdy. Really happy!!
