I received this clock 11 days after I ordered it. Some of the reviews I read prior to buying indicated that the numbers were difficult to read against the dark background of the clock face. Fortunately, that's not the case with the one I received. I'm only giving it 4 stars, due to the quality of the detailing. There are gold colored bands in three places on the clock and, for some reason, the color only goes about 2/3 of the way around each band. Since it is possible to see the back of the clock (when looking at it from the side), it seems odd to me that the paint stops short. However, this is a minor detail and not likely to be noticed by the casual observer. On a positive note, I like that the time and the pendulum operate on separate AA batteries. If, for some reason, I ever want to stop the motion of the pendulum, all I'll need to do is remove the battery that controls it and the clock will still keep time. All in all, I'm very pleased!
I love my new Howard Miller Addison Wall Clock. The design is simple, but playful. The color is a perfect raspberry red, with black accents, it goes perfect in my room. Good quality, great price and I received it within a week of ordering it. Another great purchase from O.
I received the clock yesterday and was in love with it when I took it out of the box. I have no problem reading the gold numbers and love the low ticking sound. I would definitely recommend this clock. I have it in my office. A welcome addition!
Overall I like the look and function of this clock. The clock has about 2 inches of depth which is not visible in the photo. The allows the pendulum to swing without hitting the wall. The only thing that is a little bit of an issue (thus 4 stars) is the hands and face are both an antique type of finish and if the clock is not brightly lit it can be challenging to read the time because the hands don't stand out against the face very well.
Pros - The style is pretty and matched the feeling and mood in the room. It has a rustic feel with the metal and deep red color. The pendulum operates with different battery. Cons - The face cover is plastic (the one I received had a scratch) & the hands/numbers are VERY difficult to see/read. The gold numbers are not nearly as bright as in the picture - really not even close. They are more of an antique gold lettering, pretty in the bright daylight but difficult to read from many angles or any distance including across a 12' room. In fact if it wasn't so much of a hassle (and cost to ship back & end up with nothing), I would return this clock because it is so hard to read. I will probably end up using a paint pen to try and brighten the numbers. For the $** price, it will stay as an accent piece, but I will be putting another clock in the room to use for actually telling time. Wish my review could be better, but I would have wanted to know this before purchasing and only one other reviewer said unreadable. Sorry to say, but pass on this one if you really need to read the time. It is more than a "little" unreadable - it is completely too difficult to read the time. Rating 1 out of 5 like the one previous reviewer - this is a clock that doesn't easily do what it is supposed to do - tell time.
The swinging pendulum is a neat touch and I like the old fashioned ticking that you can hear. Only thing is the numbers are light in color and small, so it should be hung where it's meant to be seen close up. Overall, we love it!
This clock is charming. The style is elegant and understated, but the deep red face gives it a bit of eye-catching boldness. I saw other comments that the gold numerals on the face were difficult to read, and that may be so depending on the angle and lighting, but we have had no trouble reading it where we have it positioned. It makes a very attractive addition to our dining room, and our home.
I put this clock in my kitchen/dining area. It looks nice on my yellow wall. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it is a little hard to see the numbers from a distance. They are gold against red.
An adorable clock, just the right size for the room it's in. Not too loud, and the pendulum and hands work on separate batteries, which I like. The deep red looks nice against the wall. Good accent piece.
I do love the look of this clock. It looks great and I was glad I got it for it's purpose, decorative only. However, if I needed to depend on this to tell time I would be in trouble. You can not see the hands. You really need to get up close to the clock. All they had to do is paint the hands lighter. They blend in so hard with the clock it is very, very difficult to see. Second issue and why I rated this only a 2 star, the packing was horrible. It was in the Howard Miller box only for all to see sitting on my doorstep. The box was crushed and luckily it was packed in Styrofoam. The box was even ripped open on an end. Nothing missing, yet I could have lost the pendulum as it was hanging closely to the end that was ripped open. Not happy at all with the packing. Overall if they fixed the hands the clock is lovely and looks great in my Tuscan kitchen. You really can't beat the price, but you get what you paid for in this case.
Overall the clock works for me... I needed something to fill a void on the kitchen wall and this does the trick! The color is perfect. I agree with reviews I read read before I purchased it-it is hard to read. I am going to pop the cover off and touch up the hands with gold paint.....the pendulum needs some touching up too. I am basically happy with it, especially for the bargain price :)
love the clock. the only thing is the gold around the metal at two places is not visible in the pix.
This clock is on it's own small wall in the lower level of my home, it looks so nice and the price was right. It operates very well.
The reviews are accurate. The clock makes a nice statement visually and is of overall good quality. Like the other comments, I had a difficult time reading the hands even though the clock is directly beneath a light in the bathroom. To compensate, I took apart the clock (an easy job) and painted the hands with a high gloss gold paint purchased at the hobby store. This did the trick.
I purchased this clock for my dining room wall and it is exactly as it was described and fits the spot perfectly. I completely re decorated my dining room and the first thing people notice is the clock. The numerals are a little light but the clock is so awesome that I don't care and besides I can look at my watch if I want to know the time.
This clock was perfect for my family room. It's not too big and not too small. I like that it has a pendulum but doesn't chime (so it doesn't wake me up at night). I agree with previous reviews that the numbers are a little hard to read because they are dark but, with the light on, it's OK. I would recommend this clock to anyone who wants a good looking clock. The best part - the price was right!
This was exactly what I was looking for. The red on the face matches my decor perfectly. My only complaint was that it has a plastic cover over the face. The numbers and hands are a subdued gold/yellow color and the cover always had a glare where you couldn't see what the time was. I solved this by taking the clock apart and removing the cover. It is still a very good looking clock and I can tell the time now.
I read all the reviews of this clock about the face being too dark or more accurately, the numbers and hands being not bright enough but I planned to put it in my brightly lit (undimmable screaming fluorescent lights) office. The only concern I had was reflection off the cover. I positioned it to avoid that and voila! the perfect clock for the space. I love it! It gives the perfect classic vibe and the price is incredibly cheap, about what a less interesting circle clock would cost at Target. No complaints here. If you can replicate that context, this may be the perfect clock for you, otherwise find another clock or be prepared to take it apart and repaint the hands and or numbers.
This clock is unique looking, adorable and on Overstock well priced. Like the other reviewers have mentioned it can be hard to read. The hands which are gold on the dark red face if the clock is not in a well lite area. Mine is in the kitchen and gets direct sunlight so so far so good. Definitely recommend.
The actual color of the product did not differ much from the site but from a distance, the contrast of the red background with the gold numbers and clock hands makes it difficult to actually see the time. Wall clocks are intended to be readily viewable from a distance and this clock does not serve that function. Though the quality of the product is not bad for its price, its overall rating is diminished by the reduced utility of the product.
