I previously owned a 12 amp upright Eureka Boss & a small Kenmore Canister Vacuum. The Eureka was noisy and broke quickly. The canister was not powerful and was messy to empty. I love the Panasonic MC-UG471 Upright Bagged Vacuum. I read other reviews and it seemed like a good fit for me. I love the color and it is quiet. It has a light on the front and the cord winds up into the machine which makes it easy to store. It works great. I have allergies and I read that bagged vacuums are the best for allergy sufferers. Thanks Overstock for the fast shipping and excellent condition of the item.
The hamper is great for us. We have four kids 11-18 so generate A LOT of laundry. I attached labels for dark colored and light and now it's so much easier all round. One section, about a hand from from the top, is a load for my Kenmore 3T-he machine. Almost full - throw in a load. Much more efficient than the previous heaping basket and so much neater. The smell of the seagrass is there but not unpleasant and the liner fits very well. A plastic bag around the hamper prevented the problems of styrofoam bits previously mentioned.
Formerly owned a Kenmore which was similar in design. Panasonic has made a quality vacuum with great suction power and ease of use. The tools store nicely in the vacuum and are easily accessible. The quality of the brushes are not as good as the Kenmore and I wish there was a bag full light otherwise not bad for the price.
Unusual German engineering, it will take a little time to get used to (eg. to change bag you'll have to open access door on the bottom side of the canister)! The goods: canister is medium size, relative lightweight and easy to maneuver. Air exhaust opening is on the top which helps two things: it doesn't kick dust and hair of the floor behind you (you just have to get used to have air blast to your face when standing close to canister, but it's HEPA filtered air) and it could be used in upright (vertical) position when vacuuming stairs or high reach shelves. Motor has adjustable speed and with that adjustable sucking power for different vacuuming needs (curtains etc). Motor is not very loud even on highest setting and got really quiet on lower settings, big plus. Wand is all metal (another big plus)and could be extended about 70% in length which make vacuuming cobwebs on the ceiling corners a breeze. Carpet (and upholstery) attachment is surprisingly powerful for air powered tool. It cleans low pile rugs and upholstered furniture really fast and good (I do not have high pile rugs so do not know how it works on those). All attachments are hold by friction only to the wand, but they are hold securely and so far did not fall of. Room for improvement: have not found any with canister itself, but mostly hose and attachments. Hose is long and light, but also seems to be very thin and may be prone to breaking in the future. Wand holding area is simple, plastic round pipe which makes your hand tired after a while. I'm sure it could have been engineered more ergonomic easily!? Also big hard floor attachment could have been made a little better. Little brush attachment has adjustable angle (genius) to it, but simple square narrow opening in it makes it pretty loud air sucker which defies overall quiet canister motor design (German engineers; really, I thought that you pay attention to all little details). Floor and carpet attachments have built in hooks to be attached to the canister (only one can be attached at the time), but 3 little attachments have not any such thing. It would be easy to make attachments holder which could be attached to the wand itself (like some Kenmore models) so you would have them ready for use at any time. Perhaps Germans prefer to walk back and forth for each attachment as a way of additional exercise (pun to original engineers). All in all I really like this vacuum cleaner for its good sides: light, quiet and performing well!!!
