    • Fantastic!
      Verified Purchase

I was hesitant to buy these shades. The price is very reasonable and usually with window coverings you get what you paid for. We have so many windows in our house it would take a small fortune to pay to have all the coverings installed so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. These shades are light but seem to be well-made and function smoothly up and down. The installation was easy. I inside mounted them and the brackets they come with have multiple ways to attach. I appreciated the option that allows you to slide the bracket slightly forward or backward to adjust the depth of the shade perfectly (instead of a small screw hole there are also longer channels that can be screwed into allowing you to slightly move the brackets back and forth before tightening them in place). I also liked that the mounting brackets are able to attach on the backside of the shades rather than on the ends. This allows you to order as close to the width of the window as possible, preventing large gaps on the sides for light to come through. These shades only soften the light and are not blackout ones but I am using them with curtains and together they shut out the light when I want but then I have the option to have diffused light as well. I highly recommend these shades.

Very happy with these cellular shades. Purchased them for a spare bedroom and I am so happy with them that i will be purchasing more for my bedroom. Easy to install and operate. Delighted with this product and at 25 -50% lower than anywhere else I checked, they are a great bargain.

    • Inexpensive and nice
      Verified Purchase

I purchased many of these shades and found them to be nicer [and less expensive] than the comparable ones from Home Depot. They are a neutral white as opposed to the almost bluish tint of HD variety. They slide up and down smoothly and with minimal effort, while the HD ones require a bit more force. The retraction mechanism is in the header rather than the bottom of the shade, so the bottom is light and easy to maneuver.

I got these blinds for the kitchen. I wanted to keep it bright but filter the light. They were easy to install, sturdy, and the up/down mechanism works great. I am very happy with this purchase and will probably use these to replace the remaining 2 windows in my living room.

    • Q:

"since I had "replacement" windows installed, I lost some Depth and have not found mounting brackets that will work. , I am looking for a shade that is 34Wx60Lx1/2D. Will this brand work?"

    • Q:

"These are cordless correct? It does not state it like the others."

      • A:

Yes, they are cordless. One thing I didn't think about when ordering was that I have windows that are about 9 feet above the ground at the top so it's hard to open completely and to close them without having a cord. I use my husbands golf driver to push them completely open and I bent a metal marsh mellow roasting stick to form a loop that can grab the handle for lowering them. Not too scientific, but if cords are not suitable for you (i.e. you have small children or pets), then this solution has worked for me. I hope this is helpful!

      • A:

Yes they are cordless you pull and push them up with a clear tab located in the middle . Love these and the price is great

    • Q:

"My windows are 28 inches wide. If i order 27.5 width blinds, will they look too small?"

      • A:

For an inside mount, it is recommended that you choose a width that is 0.25 inches smaller than the inside of your window frame.

    • Q:

"I have a window that is 46 High x 71 Wide (inside measurements). I don't see a blind that comes close to that measurement. What do you suggest?"

      • A:

71 wide is very wide for a single window treatment. Its not easy to raise and lower evenly, and with time the headrail and bottom rail will tend to bow. Its best to split the shade in two or three sections and have separate controls. Lining up the split on a mullion or window grid will give the best appearance. The headrails butt together very closely but you'll have a 1/2" crack of light between the shades when they are down. Positioning over a mullion helps to fill that gap. Or hide the split under a window curtain panel. Some wider windows have a large center fixed window flanked by two smaller functioning windows. In that application, its best to cover with three shades butted together.

    • Q:

"Can you cut them down to fit an odd size window?"

      • A:

No, they are mounted in a unit that is quite substantial.

      • A:

Yes, if you use a chop saw . My husband took the ends off and taped the blind shut. When he replaced the ends and mounted them they look perfect, very happy!

    • Q:

"If windows are 35" wide, should I order 34.5" to install inside frame? Are these returnable?"

      • A:

For an inside mount, it is recommended that you choose a width that is 0.25 inches smaller than the inside of your window frame. Items must be returned in new or unused condition and contain all original materials included with the shipment. For more information on our return policy, please click on the shipping and returns tab and select more details.

    • Q:

      "how are they installed?"

      • A:

Side clips or top clips (can go either way). Had to read the inestructions and mess with them several times before I finally put them up, but once it made sense it was an easy install.

      • A:

We include mounting hardware and instructions for hanging for every product.

    • Q:

"If my windows are 36"( inside frame) and 46 " L what size would fit?"

      • A:

If you are wanting to inside mount, you will need to choose a width that is about 1/2" less than the inside recess width. We send exact sizing, so you will need to account for clearance of the framework and your hardware.

    • Q:

      "Are these cordless?"

      • A:

        Yes these are cordless blinds.

      • A:

Yes, they are cordless. They come with a little snap on handle to attach to the bottom to pull them down and push them up. They are very easy to maneuver.

      • A:

        Yes, they are.

    • Q:

"So if I purchase two for a slider door where the opening is 69" will two 34" plus hardware fit?"

      • A:

I purchased these for pairs of large windows that were exactly 34 inches each, and yes, the dimension was true to size. Just be sure you have that 34 inches for each window/door, and will fit inside the frame of your slider. You CAN always remove the little plastic end caps to make these types of shades a tad smaller. And, of course, with Overstock you can return them ... which is always nice when you aren't sure.

      • A:

Yes that should be good. You have to purchase the blinds 1/2" smaller than what you need for each window/door.

      • A:

they hang from the top so the hardware is installed on top....so yes they will fit.

      • A:

We also purchased these for a slider door. The hardware/plastic doesn't stick out and take up much additional space (if any). You'll just have to be sure that you're mounting them with the exact dimensions since you don't have much wiggle room.

      • A:

The ones I purchased were just a tad bit too wide but I cut them down with a chopsaw and it worked fabulously. So if you have a chopsaw you can make them fit like a glove!

    • Q:

"Do these shades provide privacy during the evening when light comes from indoors?"

      • A:

These shades do not let the light in from outside so I believe they should provide privacy whether you're inside or outside.

    • Q:

"Why is there a limit of 1 to purchase these shade (on all sizes)?"

      • A:

I bought 4 at one time.. not sure where you are seeing the limit of 1.

      • A:

I just went in and tried it - you are correct - you can't change the number. I tried to add separately to my cart and received this message: "This item's quantity has been adjusted to meet promotional purchase restrictions."

      • A:

I certainly bought more than 1 at a time. You might have read it wrong. Btw, love the blinds. Better than those I spent hundreds of dollars custom blinds.

    • Q:

"I'm looking to purchase 3 of these shades but wonder how close the outside dimension is. I really need 25" width. the 25.5 may be too tight."

      • A:

I inside installed all the shades I purchased and found the measurements to be very accurate. I think if you purchase the 25.5 it won't fit. A little less is better, more width will not work.

      • A:

please be aware that the shade measurement is precise. 1/2" over may not work for you.

    • Q:

"I want to purchase these but wondering where the brackets need to be placed when putting them on the inside. Do I have the option of screwing it on the top or side?"

      • A:

I installed a few of these shades. I inside mounted them. Screwed the bracket on the wood jamb and these shades just snap into place. I don't think they can be side mounted because that would interfere with the operation of the shade.

      • A:

Brackets can go inside window casing, or outside casing, just be sure to adjust you sizing for outside if you want you shade to cover entire opening. I ordered 33.5 for the inside of my window and they fit perfectly as I measured the inside. Love these blinds very easy to en stall.

    • Q:

"I bought 2 72" shades. The directions are not very thorough. There parts in the box that are not mentioned in the directions - small clear plastic triangular pieces with small screws. There were 3 mounting brackets and the directions said to put one 4" from each end and I assumed the third would go in the middle, but I can't clip the shade to the bracket right in the middle because of part of the "works" inside the shade header are there. Can I get more information about how to install?"

      • A:

Lynda, regarding the mounting brackets you just have to offset the middle bracket so that it's not in the way of the internal workings. When I mounted my long ones (that required a middle bracket) I just held up the shade and eye-balled the location of the middle so that it was about 1/2" away. Regarding the small clear plastic triagles I believe those are meant to be "hold downs" so that if your shade doesn't fully extend to the sill you can mount those clips (to the sill) to hold down the shade and achieve complete privacy. (that's my best guess; at first I was like "what the hell are these?" haha). Hope this helps!

    • Q:

"How much depth do I need for brackets for an inside mount? I have about 1" at the top of the window."

      • A:

That will be adequate. That is assuming no part of you window protrudes into that space. For instance, if you have a double hung window, that would project further into the room than the upper sash.

      • A:

The width of the top rail is close to 2". I don't think 1" will be enough space.

    • Q:

"Can these blinds blinds be mounted on the outside of a window frame?"

      • A:

Yes they can, but they may cover your window trim depending on the size you choose. I used them on some French doors and got them a couple of inches larger than the glass to increase privacy, which was essentially like mounting on the outside of a window frame.

    • Q:

"Can these be mounted to French doors?"

      • A:

The wood part of the door would have to be deep enough to mount the clip.....I think these might be too deep.

      • A:

technically I'm sure you could mount them to French doors but most likely not without making it look ridiculous. The mounted part and thickness of the shades wouldn't really work with French doors.

      • A:

I mounted these to French doors without any problem.

    • Q:

"Is it come with Clear plastic handle?"

      • A:

There is not a real handle at the bottom of the shade. They're finished in a bar of white plastic that moves very easily. They are a great value, similar to the custom shades I had made for another room for a fraction of the price.

      • A:

Yes, mine came with the clear plastic handle that snaps on.

      • A:

Mine came with a clear plastic handle that is popped into place on the bottom of the shade.
