    Story Behind the Art:

Oushak has produced some of the most decorative Persian influenced rugs of all times. This particular rug is the Oushak design but is made in the Bhadohi region of India by the Kumar family. They have a factory that employs about 2000 villagers and they all help to create the Oushak design vegetable dyes and rugs.

    What is Worldstock?

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen. Imported

Please keep in mind that new wool rugs may initially shed and have a natural capacity to shed for several months after purchase. This is normal due to the nature of construction of most wool rugs and not a defect. Click here to view our Wool Rug Care Guide.

    • This rug is not hand knotted!

Overstock has been great over all but this rug is definitely NOT as described. There is no doubt that it is NOT hand knotted. It also does not feel like any wool rug that I have or have had and I work with wool myself. It feels more like a mix like a wool sock with 10% wool. Visually it somewhat closely matches the image, with the exception of the border which is a different shade in the image, the rug I received has ivory for the entire background from end to end. There are two 1.5 inch borders on the one i received that frame the rug, Not a 5-6 inch one as pictured. There are also spoolies and 1/4 inch ends from the weave coming up here there and everywhere. It's been on the floor for a few hours, i've walked over it barefoot and these seem to be coming up with every little bit of friction. I expect in a month or two of use it will look shabby. I'm disappointed because I thought that if I stuck with the term "hand knotted" and stayed away from big lines like surya and safavieh I would have more luck, but I'm afraid now that these terms are being cast out there too liberally; (like "organic") it's getting harder and harder to weed through the imitations. BTW there was NO label on the rug or on the package other than the shipper label so it's hard to know what manufacturer actually made this rug, definitely not done on a village loom unless they've become highly mechanized.
