Bought this heater to replace Holmes quartz heater from Target. Holmes heater was not effective for our family room of 400 sq. ft. This Duraflame heats the room effectively.
The heater quickly warms my small, 200 sf living room nice and warm on those cold mornings and evenings. The unit is attractive and I like the oscillating feature. However, even though I use the heater less than 4 hours a day, my electric bill went up almost 35%. I've had two other Infrared Quartz heaters in the past and had only minor increase in electric costs during much colder winters when the unit ran longer hours. The remote doesn't work either. Probably not a brand I would buy again.
I bought a smaller black one first but wanted a lighter color to go with my cottage decor. This one is larger and more visible flame bed. It heats my living room when I'm there so the furnace isn't running so much. My smaller unit has a prettier blue flame display, a digital thermostat and timer that shuts the whole thing off, but I am happy with the size, color and heating capability of this Duraflame one. Just don't plug it in to an outlet that can't handle the demand. You may blow a breaker if it's on a line with other appliances. The remote is nice to adjust the flame brightness or turn the heat up or down. It's very soothing to have a fire going....you don't realize it until you turn it off.....I have it on all the time when I'm in that room. QVC has the same unit for $50 more and they charge shipping. It's double this price at the bigger fireplace distibutor. I really do love it!
