Story Behind the Art:

• This stool was created by local villagers in the Judhpur area of India, through a process of weaving kilim to exact dimensions and then upholstering it onto a handmade sheesham wood frame. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs and furniture to Worldstock for over 10 years, creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers and artisans, which helps them greatly support their families. The community also thrives from rug weaving and furniture production as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the artisans to use in their designs.
