• This bench was made by local artisans in the Judhpur area of Rajasthan, India. The weavers first created the kilim weave to exact dimensions before upholstering it onto the handmade sheesham wood frame. Herat Oriental has been providing authentic, handmade furniture to Worldstock for over a decade, creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers and artisans. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Through rug weaving and furniture production, the community thrives as local farmers benefit from wool sales and artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for designs.
