Story Behind the Art:
- This rug is made by village weavers in Lahore, Pakistan, using remnants of Persian Antique rugs that could no longer be used as one whole rug. The weavers preserve the good parts of these rugs by putting them together as a patchwork rug. Inconsistencies in the rug and its design are inherent to this textile. The majority of the weavers are women living in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. By creating more job opportunities for female weavers, we help to support their communities.
