Story Behind the Art:

• This rug design originates from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, but it was re-created and woven by Bhadohi village weavers in Varanasi, India. Women weavers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India create these rugs, which provide them with job opportunities they would not otherwise have. The rug weaving also benefits local farmers who sell the wool and local artisans who make natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. Each rug is handmade with artisan skill, which creates variations in color, size, and design.
