Story Behind the Art:
India has a very long history of woodcrafts with its prime time during the Mogul Empire in Southern India. This particular piece was handcrafted by the villagers in Jodhpur, located in the province of Rajasthan, India, and all profits from the sales of these items will help his family to continue creating such beautiful pieces of furniture. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving and furniture production as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the artisans to use in their designs.
