Story Behind the Art:

• The Hazara tribes in Afghanistan's northern villages have reproduced the antique Turkish Oushak design. Due to the handmade nature of the rug, its size may vary up to 3-4 inches from the advertised dimensions. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep the rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The rug-weaving community thrives, as local farmers benefit from wool sales and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. As we grow, we create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to do so.
