Story Behind the Art:-
Hello, my name is Ketut Karsini, I was born in 1971 in Ubud from a wood-carver family. I'm the 4th child from total 5 siblings. Ubud is small region name in Bali that famous with it's culture and also tradition. Many tourist from abroad love Ubud since it offers many artistry with scenic tourism spots and also the tradition of the locals that friendly and welcome to anyone who wants to learn about our cultures. I painted wood-carvings since I was in the elementary school. My friend taught me and because I like painting and I want to create something different from what my parent's do, I could easily learned just by observing. I started painting my parent's products like sculptures, wall panels, mask and tried to sell those stuffs. Unexpectedly those were sold out and since then I created more and more products that modified with paints. Most people here always sell their products in the natural wood finishing. I can develop my skills and hobby here that makes me love this work. Friends say I'm a humble and diligent but a bit shy. I'm married with a Man from Singaraja that previously worked in my parent's workshop. We have 3 sons and they make me happy but also pushed us to be more responsible for their future life. There was once my 1st son was sick when we were still in the difficult time, even that time my parents helped us buying milk for our children and we have no any vehicles. Fortunately, My father taught me to be more autonomous and I used to learn about business since I was a little girl for my future. And we got small orders slow but continously ordered by our clients. I work with the help of my husband, family members and also 12 workers. My husband manages our works here. The materials we use are Albesia wood and acrylic paints and we are using manual tools only like brush, scissor, mallet, saw and hand-drill. We always making new designs so that our designs looks different from other shops that sell similar items, because I noticed today there are so many shops selling stuffs like my products.
