The photo is lovely. The clock up on the wall ... not so much. The description ~ Including the phrase "solid mother of pearl oyster shell," "sophisticated finish," "delicately painted blue flowers," and "capiz shell," with a description of capiz shell ~ sounded perfect. However, the actual clock looks and feels like nothing more than cheap plastic. Also, I knew ahead of time that the clock measures 13", but that large size, combined with the overall look, is just cheap and gaudy-looking.
It's absolutely stunning, came unbelievably well wrapped and is sooo beautiful. I am only 40 years old, so I actually got made fun of for it. I guess because it does look like it is something of an heirloom, passed down from generation to generation. I don't care though, I carefully have designed my home, and I absolutely LOVE this piece, especially because it is handmade. You can tell it's handmade, not because there is anything wrong with it, but because you can just tell by the craftsmanship that has gone into making this. If you don't like antique looking time pieces then don't purchase this, but if you do then buy this. It says it is 13 inches around, but it looks bigger to me, it is incredibly light, as light as a feather. You can hear the second hand ticking, but it's not super loud, just an observation. It runs on one AA battery which is great, I would recommend putting this clock in a kitchen, living room, office, or (like me) in your dinning room. Definitely not a bedroom, because the ticking will probably drive you insane. All in all I gave it 5/5 stars because: handmade, made of oyster and pure elegance!!!
