    • Leaves a ton of grit behind!

When I first purchased this rug I assumed that earthy grit/dirt was a normal thing for natural rugs. I also didn't use a rug pad because I didn't think I needed one and this rug ended up scratching my floors below. Years later I ordered a different but similar rug and there is no dirt left behind.

This rug is amazing. It's a great size and very durable, which I needed. I have a dog and a cat and it really keeps up. My kids visit with their dogs, so it get a lot of use. It stands up to the wear great.

I love this rug. I put it under my bed. I had painted the old wood floor a pale mint green. My furniture was " country" and I had shabby chic bed linens and pillows. I used pale pink, blue, yellow and white accents. The walls were sunny yellow. The rug was perfect ! Don't be upset if some " dirt" works its way out of the rug. It's handmade from natural fiber. Just vacuuming will take care of it.

    • Very filthy rug!

Super pretty but sheds and doesn't stop no matter how much it's vacuumed, shaken or aired out. And the sand/dirt mess that will cover your floor underneath is gross too. Such a bummer!

    • Great neutral base adds casual elegance to a room
      Verified Purchase

I love this rug! I've been very pleased with this purchase. It was easy on the budget, and it allowed me to add texture and a more casual feel to my formal dining room. You can visit my blog to see detailed photos I took of the rug after I first purchased it here: *. I bought the rug over a year ago when I began my dining room makeover, and it has really held up well. You can see photos of how the rug looks in my finished dining room here:*. I think the rug is really rich-looking—there are very subtle variations in the color, which give it added dimension and interest. The rug is quite thick too! (I did, however, order the recommended rug pad as well.) Like several other reviewers have noted, because this is a natural fiber rug, there was a faint odor at first (nothing unpleasant at all) which quickly dissipated. There was some slight shedding initially, but this has also subsided. The rug cleans up well (I vacuum it regularly, with my vacuum set on "medium pile" to protect the weave). In summary, a great purchase, and I'm considering ordering another one when I tackle my upstairs bedrooms next!

    • Chunky Jute Rug: Great but needs a pad underneath
      Verified Purchase

I love the rug. It is exactly as I expected, except softer - which is nice. The only caveat is that this rug MUST have a carpet pad underneath it as it will scratch the hardwoods beneath it. I learned this the hard way. I should have known this, so I can't slam the rug for it. Great rug and order the pad.

    • Beautiful, rustic rug
      Verified Purchase

This rug is very rustic, with a chunky, thick fiber and a large bouclé weave. It's reversible which is an advantage over latex-backed natural fiber rugs. If the decor you like is country, cottage, beach house, casual, or natural, you'll love it. If you like more elegant, formal, or refined decor, you won't like it. Some customers have mentioned an odor, which mine does not have, and I just received it today. I replaced a smaller sisal rug I purchased on OS about 6 years ago, and I like the look of this one much better. Another quality worth mentioning: my two cats haven't shown any interest in scratching on it, which they loved to do on the sisal rug. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

    • The picture was changed after I ordered it.
      Verified Purchase

I cannot believe this is the same rug that people bought before and wrote those great reviews about it. I'm not such a difficult customer and i find the rug to be beyond rustic. it has extremely uneven loops and so many loose ones. The picture that I remember seeing on the website is no longer there, the one that is there now is much closer in color to the real rug but I never saw that picture before ordering. I honestly think that there is something wrong with this rug in particular or reviews are no real.

    • Unbelievable!
      Verified Purchase

After ordering this rug it arrived quickly and before unwrapping it I started to feel guilty. I was redesiging a large bedroom and had most everything else done and was feeling like I should not have splurged on the rug. I was considering sending it back before I even opened it. But decided to just unroll and look at it. Thats all it took. The rug is down permanently and it is absolutely gorgeous. I was going for a beachy/earthly look to the bedroom and it turned out better than I imagined. I did the walls in venetian plaster; a pretty light tan color, ordered 70" bamboo shades from Overstock for the 2 large windows and a tan matelasse bedspread and white matelasse coverlette from **** for the bed. Painted 2 old dressers a creamy linen color, installed pepple tile on top of them and hung white billowing sheer drapes on the sides of the shades. The rug made the room and brought the whole look together. I'm not disappointed nor do I feel guilty anymore. It does have a grassy smell, but it doesn't bother me and I'm sure it will fade with time....after all it is jute. Not sure how to handle spots or spills but since this is a guest bedroom I'm hoping to get many years of use from it. I believe its the fringe on this rug that sets it apart from the others. The shine from the venetian plaster along with the roughness of the jute rug and bamboo shades give the room so much texture.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"With the fringes on the end, does the rug measure 8 x 10?"

      • A:

The width is 7'6" but the length including the fringe is 10' 4".

    • Q:

"I bought a jute rug from ***, loved the way it looked but having had it for a couple of years it's unraveling and now looks terrible. I want to replace it with another Jute rug but don't want to spend the money and have it unravel again. It's it my living room and not a very high traffic area. Does anyone have this rug for a couple of years and can tell me how it held up?"

      • A:

I've had this in my bedroom for 4 months now. It sheds pretty bad and is just a dusty rug. If you vacuum it every other day or so it won't be too bad.

      • A:

I have had my rug for almost a year. I have 3 shih Tzu's and the rug is in the most used room of my house. I have enjoyed to look of the rug. I put a cow hide rug over the center portion of my rug and a coffee table sits atop that so with it being partially covered it doesn't get as much wear and tear on the whole rug. I will say that the rope tassels are kind of frazzled but still look good. I have had puppies chewing them on occasion so it was expected. All in all, I have to say that I am satisfied so far. I got the rug at a great price I thought at the time so I feel like it has served me well for the short time I have had it and still looks great.

    • Q:

"I know someone mentioned that this rug will scratch the floor without a pad underneath. Can others weigh-in if you've had similar experiences? This will be used under a dining room table with little foot traffic and while I know it's recommended that a rug pad be used, is it absolutely necessary?"

      • A:

I have this rug and it's very soft, there is no latex backing that causes any issue with wood floors. It can slid, especially the smaller sizes, but under a dining table it should be fine without a pad. hope this helps!

      • A:

I have this rug and I haven't noticed any scratches on my wood floor. I must say that it sheds like crazy.

      • A:

This is one of my favorite things I have bought. If not in high traffic should not be a problem. Get it and enjoy.

      • A:

it has been no problem on my wood floor.

"what other sizes do you have in natural??"

Have an Answer? Be the first to answer this question!
    • Q:

"How do I care for this rug? Is it washable?"

      • A:

No, it is not washable. I have successfully used a damp rag to wipe or dab up spills, etc. It honestly requires frequent vacuuming, too.

      • A:

It's awful! Constantly had dirt under this rug! I threw it out. I would spot was by hand if you decide to get it. But I found it to be quite a mess. Loved the look but hated the dirt that always came out of it.

    • Q:

"Is the rug pictured the brown color? I thought the other rugs in this style list it as natural."

      • A:

The 6th picture must the "brown". I looked at my invoice and it was called Natural. It looks like the image in the first and second picture.

    • Q:

"Is this rug soft under foot? We've got a 2.5 year old so softness is key. Some jute rugs are scratchy and uncomfortable to sit/play on so we need one to be durable as well as soft."

      • A:

I bought this rug for my front formal living room and I can tell you it is not soft. It is thick and feels like hard little balls under your feet. I love the look though. I would still buy it again because the quality is so nice and it goes perfect in my room.

      • A:

Not "soft" as my yorkie likes to roll around on it to scratch his back. It is not terribly scratchy either. For a 2.5 year old I would go for something a bit softer.

    • Q:

"Does the listed measurement of the rug include the fringe edges?"

      • A:

I believe the measurement excludes the fringes- add about another 1.5 inches.

    • Q:

"Is the bleach color the light cream color?"

      • A:

Yes. Natural is more of a camel color

    • Q:

"What is the khaki colored rug named? Natural or Bleach? The one in the first two pictures looks the same, like a khaki color and the third color looks cream."

      • A:

        Select the natural.

    • Q:

"I am considering this rug for my patio (outdoor). The comments I see are from people who have used it indoors. Please confirm that this is an outdoor rug that can be left out in the California sun plus a few rains? Can it be sprayed off? Would a pad be necessary out of doors?"

      • A:

This item can be used outdoors and be left in the rain. Spraying this item with a hose cleaning is recommended as well. To help secure this item from sliding, an outdoor rug pad is recommended.

    • Q:

"Which rug in the picture is terra and which is natural?"

      • A:

The orange shade is the terra option and the 2nd photo is natural.

    • Q:

"One answer says t can be used outdoor and the next says it cannot. Can it be used outdoor?"

      • A:

This item can be used indoors or outdoors as well.

      • A:

I have it in my covered outdoor space and it got a little wet, bled onto the concrete floor and has taken a very long time to dry. Not to mention the sun bleached the carpet where patio furniture is not sitting. I believe this is falsely advertised as 'outdoor'

    • Q:

"I can't determine what color natural versus terra is?"

      • A:

It's a sandy wheatish color for lack of a better description...great rug and looks great

    • Q:

"Is this an indoor outdoor rug? I am wondering how it holds up to spills"

      • A:

This rug can be used indoor/outdoor.

      • A:

Spills go through to the floor underneath.

    • Q:

"Will this rug hold up outdoors?s"

      • A:

No, I wouldn't recommend placing this rug outdoors.

    • Q:

"Is the blue shade a navy blue or a royal blue?"

      • A:

It may depend on each rug, because it should depend on the blue jean material they use. Mine is all shades of blue jeans' "blue" - from light blue to medium blue (mostly) with a little dark (navy) blue jean material interspersed. It is a rag rug, with a lot of variety of colors! It has a line of tan sisal in between each line of blue jean material, so what I see is shades of blue with tan, and a little white since that is the color of thread used, and is also a medium blue/white fringe. Hope this helps!

    • Q:

"Is "Neutral" the brown/tan looking rug in the first photo?"

      • A:

The "Neutral" option is the first photo shown.

      • A:

The neutral rug is indeed the light brown in the first picture. The very light color rug is beach and looks very much like a white sand beach. Both are good, sturdy rugs.

    • Q:

"Is the "Terra" the orange color rug? "

      • A:

The terra is the fourth picture.

      • A:

I have two of these. There is no orange in them.
