Story Behind the Art:

• The design of this rug was copied and re-created by local weavers in the Bhadohi village in the Varanasi region of India. The entire process of shearing, washing, dyeing, and weaving is done by village weavers, ensuring that each rug is virtually identical in design, workmanship, and authenticity as the originals. HERAT ORIENTAL has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs for over 10 years, creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. As they grow, they are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.
