Story Behind the Art:
Balinese artisan Made Wirata comes from a family dedicated to this art for generations. 'I first learned to carve from my father, who specialized in a particular style of carving locally known as 'sri bunga' as well as 'keris.' When I finished school, I apprenticed with my uncle, who taught me to carve traditional images. In 1993, a cousin taught me the carving of modern statuettes. I began to sell my work to sustain my studies and now several galleries in Bali collect my creations,' he says.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my mother in law, I am hopeful that she will love it. Haven't gotten to give it to her yet but will soon, we hope.
This is the third carved bear I have purchased from Overstock. The bear is hand carved and beautifully crafted. The workmanship is very nice, good workmanship. It is so cute in my cabin!
