I have had a few office chairs break on me in my life, but this one went the quickest. Within only a few months of purchase, the chair had broken around the post. Bizchair kindly sent me the replacement parts I needed and I was able to repair it, but just coming up on a year after I bought the chair, it is breaking around the post again. I've never had a chair fail so quickly before.
This chair is very sturdy and durable, which is part of my motivation for ordering if after other chairs tended to break over time. It does get a little warm when I use it for extended periods of time.
The seat does not raise up very high, so your legs will be too close to the groundif you are over 5'8".
Seat slants towards floor and will slide out from under you when you are using it.
This thing was horrible to put together! The alignment of holes in mating pieces that had to be screwed together was so bad that I couldn't use all of the screws provided. Consequently, the assembly has never felt tight and secure. The adjustable arm feature was a great idea, but implementation still needs work. The arms did not assemble symmetrically, so they are always at somewhat different angles to each other. It takes almost no effort to move them from one position to another, so just leaning or turning in the chair pops them out of position. Very frustrating! Assembling the base was very time-consuming and maddening! I couldn't press the casters into the holes in the legs, so I got a hammer. That didn't work either. Positioning the wheels relative to the base was very awkward and difficult; every time I'd get a few of them aligned, the others would pop out of place, so I couldn't get all of the wheels in the right places at one time. I eventually managed it by putting the star-shaped base upside down, and literally standing on each caster until it finally popped into position. The general shape of the chair is roomy and comfortable, the adjustable lumbar support is perfect for me, and it's nice to be able to adjust the arms, but considering the amount of effort required to put it together, the poor registration of adjoining parts, and the resultant "rickety" feeling, no, I wouldn't recommend this particular brand to anyone. It's being relegated to the craft room, and I've bought an entirely different brand for my home office (reviewed elsewhere on Overstock).
I love the chair, however it did not come with an operating manual and I don't know what all these buttons are for.
Son put together himself. Said only difficulty was attaching the back. He loves all the adjustments to this chair. Uses it everyday and is very comfortable. Great looking too.
