Story Behind the Art: Our handmade rugs are made by weavers from small villages surrounding the Bidjar area who take great pride in their workmanship. Everyone in the village helps to dye and wash the wool before weaving it into beautiful rugs. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs to Worldstock for over 10 years. With the opportunity given by Worldstock, we have been able to create jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, helping them to greatly support their families. The majority of these weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. As we grow with Worldstock, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.
