This runner was made by village weavers in India. The wool is cleaned, washed, and dyed with natural vegetable dyes before being expertly woven into a one-of-a-kind piece. The luxurious wool of the region and the expert craftsmanship of the rug weavers have made these rugs famous throughout the world. This rug was made by weavers in the village who are able to support their families thanks to jobs created by Herat Oriental. The community thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
