I own a tempurpedic, however moving to a smaller home and wanted a thinner mattress for my platform bed as i think 12" and up ruin the look of a platform. bought it on July 2 and it arrived July 6, looked like a body in a bag, pulled it into the bedroom and cut the 2 layers of protection within minutes it was a full 7 inches, smell was not bad and the first thing i noticed was how soft the top layer was, since i have been up all night took a nap. It is so perfect,maybe more so than my tempurpedic, this is firm yet a very soft top layer, I was worried that it might be to thin for the bed as i am not a small woman, plus size goddess is more like it. buy one you will not be sorry. .

I would highly reccomend this mattress to anyone who likes a firm sleeping bed. When you first lay down you feel the firmness but as you settle in it conformes to your body. Love it. I was surprised at how easily it was packaged. It came in a rather small box but once opened, it filled out to the King size.

I had been avoiding replacing my inner-coli spring mattress for far too long, as i had it in my head that I would have to spend over a grand to get a decent mattress. Well, after much research into memory foam mattresses, this particular one seemed to get the most consistently positive reviews...expecially for the bargain price on Overstock! So I figured that even if it didn't suit me, at this price, I could always replace it. Well let me tell you, "replacing it" is the FARTHEST thing from my mind! I haven't slept so well and comfortably in YEARS! I had thought that my morning aches were just due to "getting old". It seems that it wasn't so much ME getting old as it was my MATTRESS getting old! No more morning aches. And as I'd always been a major flip-flopper at night, I now find myself most mornings still in the very same position I fell asleep in, 8 hours earlier! I'm more of a side sleeper, but this mattress feels so good on the back, I now tend to sleep on my back. The support of all that foam as it contours to your body's curves is just heavenly. I guess my only concern is, how long will the mattress remain in such great condition. I haven't read any reviews of long-term owners. But even if it's only a year or two of offering this fantastic comfort, it's well-worth it! The issues of being "too hot" or having a strange odor or anything like that have not been my experience. For once, the old adage "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" does NOT apply! This mattress really IS too good to be true...and at a price almost anyone can afford!

Oh my god, do not hesitate to buy this mattress. Firm at first, then envelopes your body. I have fibromyalgia and RSD and it has actually helped. Same size as a regular queen. I had no smells like others have posted. Definitely a steal. We love it. Thanks overstock. Just the best!!!

I ordered this mattress the week before christmas. I chose the free delivery option as I was not in a hurry for the mattress to arrive, and figured with the holidays it might take a while. OH NO IT DIDN'T! It showed up 2 days before the scheduled delivery date. That was a nice surprise. I read the reviews on this and other similar mattresses and fully expected to encounter some of the common things like the smell and the mattress opening up mis-shapen. It was funny, when we cut the tape that was holding it rolled up like a burrito, it popped out in a perfect rectangle! it did not seem to need to expand or re-shape itself, but regardless, we set it up on the bed and left it, without sheets, to expand for 24 hours. Yes, the room did have a funky, synthetic, rubbery smell for about 3-4 days, but it was very mild. We left the ceiling fan running on high and I had an air freshener in there to help minimize the scent. After 2 days, I dressed the bed and we slept on it. It is WONDERFUL! My husband has bad knees and sometimes when he turns in bed they pop out of socket. Since we got this mattress, he hasn't experienced that anymore. He is 250lbs and I am 150, so we are not small people, but I have to say, I LOVE that neither of us feel each other move, roll over, or get in & out of bed! we are sleeping like babies on it! I can't believe such a great product came with such a low price! FYI ... since we were intending on placing this mattress on top of our existing (traditional) box spring, we bought a "buckie board" at a local furniture store ($70) to lay between the mattress and box spring. Supposedly it gives better support to the mattress and helps it last longer. We'll see! We plan on keeping this mattress for a good, long time!!!

I wanted a memory foam mattress but was at a loss as to what to get. My budget is limited so I wanted something that was inexpensive but comfortable. My sister has a platform bed with a hard memory foam mattress. I slept on in it for a weekend and definitely did not like the firm. I woke up with a stiff back. I ordered the grande hotel 8" queen in medium firmness and had second thoughts that i should have gone with the thicker mattress for maximum comfort. It arrived yesterday my husband helped me drag it upstairs and when we opened i on the boxspring and it plumped up to the full 8 " (it even seems thicker). we both laid down on it and let out a loud "AH"!! We slept on it last night and for once in a long time I woke up with out feeling stiff. Thank you to the people I chatted with who were very helpful in making the right decision and thank you Overstock for another inexpensive, high quality product!! I am very pleased and will definitely recommend Overstock and the Grand Hotel Memory Foam Mattress to friends.

I must say I was very hesitant to purchase a mattress without first trying it out. Thus far I am glad I set aside my fears and purchased. I read all the reviews, multiple times, and experienced some of the things written. Arrival- the bed comes rolled tightly in a long bag. It almost reminds me of sausage casing. It was a bit of a pain to take it out of the bag. No HUGE pain for me, but if you suffer from any back pains or have any other physical discomforts I would suggest getting help. The bed arrived rather quickly, I believe it arrived in three business days. Smell- yes, my mattress did have a chemical like smell. The smell is powerful but not overwhelming. I must say if you are sensitive to smells DO NOT open this in your home. I can see where it could cause some discomfort if you are sensitive to smells. What I did was use frebreeze the first day and the second 24hours I used coffee grounds. With the window cracked the smell was hardly annoying after two days. I am sure if leaving it outside would've helped more but I hate bugs so leaving it outside was not an option. The bed is shipped in its cover. I wish the manufacture would ship the cover separately, having it on I believe helps retain the chemical smell. Size - I will say this the bed did not expand to the full eight inches, however it was very close to the 8. Just a smidgen off, totally acceptable to me. One tick away on the ruler from eight inches did not unnerve me. It took a full 48 hours for the bed to expand. At first the bed stayed at six inches for nearly 36 hours. I was fully prepared to jump down overstock throat for this. Not needed! Comfort- very comfortable, but the bed is firm! Not much give in the beginning. The bed is starting to give a bit and is just where I like it. Overall I am happy with my purchase, I plan to update my review at the 3 and 9 month mark, when the honeymoon phase is over. Lol

Trying to find a good memory foam mattress for a good price can be daunting, but look no further! This mattress starts out firm then conforms to your body. There's no motion transfer between us and we don't wake up because of pressure points during the night. Not to mention the mattress cover is wicked soft and well made. Eight inches seems like the perfect amount of memory foam, I wouldn't go any less than that. The mattress does have a certain smell when you unwrap it, but it does go away. What do people expect? The thing is vacuum sealed so that it can be shipped to your door, not to mention they note that it will in the description. It says it could take 72 hours to fully expand but ours did in just a couple of hours and we slept on it the same night. Very very very highly recommended. Buy it, you won't regret it!

The mattress comes in a large bag an is vac-sealed. It doesn't look like a mattress when it arrives, but once the airlock is broken on the bag it unfolds and the mattress takes form. The mattress is very comfortable and conforms to your body.

We ordered this on December 17 and were first told delivery was expected by January 2. I checked the item's tracking # on December 24 and found out it was to be delivered that day. Pretty quick for that time of year. The UPS guy showed up and had the bundle over his shoulder. I figured that meant I should have no problem getting it in the house so I had him leave it at the end of the driveway. Nope. I couldn't pick it up. Not so much the weight, but the bulk. It was the length of a mattress but 2 feet or more in diameter. I ended up using my hand truck to get it to the front door and then dragged it to the bedroom. It came in a nice nylon bag. At first we went through the trouble of trying to untie the knot, then gave up when we realized we couldn't likely use a bag that large for anything. We ended up cutting the bag open. Then the wife did a skillful cutting job to remove the plastic binder wrap without cutting the mattress. After the binding was cut loose the mattress popped open and swelled to full size within minutes. We lay it over our old mattress to let it grow and air out. We didn't smell any odors as others have, at first. After I read some more reviews I mentioned it to the wife and she could, but she didn't find it as strong or objectionable as some have. Instructions said to let the mattress air out for 72 hours if for no other reason than let the odors dissipate. The wife had her heart set on sleeping on it, though, so we just let it air out for a few hours until just before dark. Then she put sheets and blankets on it and she couldn't smell the odors. I probably slept more soundly than I did on our old mattress, but didn't feel all that much different the next morning than normal. It was more comfortable, though. The wife woke up and said she liked it so much she didn't want to get out of bed. Overall, it seems like a great mattress at a killer price. My only worry is how long it remains a great mattress. For that, only time will tell.

First of all the shipping was great and received my bed in four business days. I really like this bed, its the first one I have had that didn't have springs and its my first memory foam. Before ordering it I went to bed stores and tried out beds that had different densities and thickness. Originally I thought I would need a bed that was super thick... about ten or twelve inches thick. but after trying out a eight inch in the stores I realized that anything more than 8 inches isn't necessary. I could feel a difference in beds that were less thick, but the eight inch felt better than the seven and the same as a ten! This bed is great for me now! I can lay down and get comfy in no time at all! I sleep like a champ the entire night! It's absolutely perfect when I sleep on my back or chest, but not so much when I sleep on my sides. It may just be my body and how I am configured, but when I sleep on my side I tend to wake up with my arms asleep, which has never happened before. This may also be where the ten inch beds make a difference too... I do not know. Also, I live in North Dakota now, and the whole thing about memory foam beds sleeping hot... I don't notice it. In conclusion, great bed! I sleep well on my back, chest and sides, with the only downfall being that when I sleep on my sides I wake up with my arms asleep.

I was looking for a mattress for a very long time, because most mattresses I found were too expensive, and to have it delivered was too expensive, the I remembered that overstock has cheap shipping. What I found is that the mattress was much more affordable on this site. I chose the 8 inches, It was delivered in what looks like a body bag! The mattress is VERY comfortable. I did not know what to expect, because this is my first memory foam mattress. I have been plesantly suprised. This is so much more than I expected, and for the price it can't be beat.

I bought this for my Mother and told her not to tell my sisters that I did so, but she loves the bed so much... she told them all, 5 of them! She said it is the most comfortable bed she has ever owned. She is 75, large framed, and has a bad back from taking care of my Father. Her old mattress was 30 or more years old, and she desperately needed one, but would not buy one because of the cost to replace it. THIS mattress is SO AFFORDABLE AND COMFORTABLE, that anybody who has parents or even beloved siblings that have tight budgets and desperately need a new bed as mine did, can afford to help them out by getting them this mattress. I am so happy I was able to help my Mother out without breaking my bank account!!! Thank you Overstock.com for carrying this brand, and PLEASE never stop!!! I have urged other siblings and friends to check you offering before they go out to buy a more expensive mattress in a brick and mortar store. I had a Tempurpedic, and I have laid on generic Tempurpedic beds to check them out and felt confident that this bed would live up to my standards, and I know it went above and beyond my Mothers standards. To answer all those questions about can you use your old box spring base and the answer is YES. THIS is not a Tempurpedic who requires you to use their box base, but you can actually put this on a slab bed so WHY do you need their box spring? I think that is just a sales gimmick to make you spend more money. IF your box spring is breaking down then YES, buy a new one... if my 75 year old Mother can lift this mattress by herself and put it on her bed, then you can put this "light" mattress on your what ever you have box spring or slab bed! BUT that is just my common sense opinion, and not fact. If you want to buy a new box spring and spend more money... go for it. So to make myself clear... this IS a great mattress and I am going to buy some for my children now! Happy shopping...

I have put off writing this revue for a very long time. In general, if I can't say something good about something, I prefer to say nothing at all. When this mattress came in we were headed off for vacation so we unrolled the mattress and left it on the bed until we got back since some of the reviews said it gave off some kind of odor. So many people had said that this mattress was so comfortable and a lot of them had back problems as I have had for a long time. When we returned, we sat on the mattress and then tried sleeping on it for a night. I had thought that the review saying that this mattress was just a block of foam must have gotten a bad one because all the other reviews were good. Well, I'm afraid I have the same thing to say about this mattress as they did. It has no give at all and is like sleeping on a board. I went and got all the actual memory foam pads I had previously and put them on top of the mattress. I had purchased one two inch memory foam pad from the store, a zone pad that I had had for a while and the Serta memory foam 2 inch pad that I had purchased from Overstock. So we are now sleeping on this mattress topped with about five inches of memory foam and it is at least bearable. I did call Overstock about the mattress and they directed me to the people who make it. They said there was nothing they could do about it. My advice. Unless you want to sleep on something that is very hard, this mattress is not for you.

Wow I am truly amazed in the difference in my quality of sleep since purchasing this bed. I've had the mattress for almost a week now and wanted to be sure I really tried it out before giving it a "honeymoon review." However, I have to say I've never slept better in a regular mattress, pillow top, memory foam topper etc than I have with this mattress. The only downside is I now want to press my snooze button everyday to stay in bed a little longer! It was a little interesting getting it into the house, but it was fully expanded within 3 hours. The chemical smell was really light so I opted to wash the mattress cover and try out the mattress the first night. I was impressed by the quality of the mattress cover, it covers the entire mattress, only issue is it zips on the bottom so once the mattress had expanded it took a little work to wrestle it back on. However considering I'm a petite girl and managed to get the mattress in my home and on a platform bed frame, I'd say it's something most people could do quite easily. I've got to say that I wasn't expecting to be as happy with this purchase as I have been, my parents came for a visit and they were amazed at the quality as well. I shopped for the right mattress for over a year, i bought this one because I figured at the price even if I only used it until I could move it to the guest room and upgrade mine it was still an improvement on my current mattress, I think i'll have to get a second one for the guest room because this one isn't going anywhere!

We own a small bed and breakfast and purchased our first Grand Hotel Collection queen memory foam mattress last Fall. We have been sleeping on a memory foam mattress for years and love it. We wake up and go to bed at different times and can never "feel" each other get in & out of bed. There is no motion transfer. Over the years we have had many traditional coil mattresses suffer when "overloaded" or when children jump on them breaking the coils. Many of our guests in that room have come down to breakfast asking us what kind of mattress was in the room, where to get it etc. When it came time to buy two new mattresses it was an easy decision. Furthermore, having them delivered to your door is another advantage when you live in a rural area.

Wonderfull, bought for our guest room and perhaps a little too comfortable since guests might want to stay longer. The mattress is not too firm which can be a problem with some memory foam it appears to be between medium and firm. The mattress did have a slight odor which was gone the next day.

I bought the Grande Hotel queen memory-foam mattress a few weeks ago and it is everything promised and more. It arrived on time and unfolded itself when I cut off the plastic sheeting. Hardly an odor (and I have super-sensitive sense of smell!). Beautiful and classic look and so comfortable. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis so have sleep problems, but this mattress has made a world of difference. My last, conventional, mattress cost over $1500, yet this Grande Hotel model is 10 times more comfortable. Highly recommended, especially at this price.

Perhaps the bed in this picture was "groomed" but the mattress won't be a perfectly shaped and squared off rectangle. When you open up the packaging to expand it, it will fluff up immediately, but still not look like that picture. It's a bit more rounded on the edges. The bed does feel amazing though! I had a FIRM memory foam before, and it was just too hard for my back. This one cuddles around my body without making me feel like im sinking in. Love IT!
