I had the same mattress for years. I wanted to try memory foam so I want to a local "Sleepys" store and could not believe the price of some of the memory foam mattresses. I took a chance on this mattress and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MATTRESS

it's a medium firm gel foam mattress. it's 14" tall and sitting on top of a 10" foundation. i thought i was going to get a nose bleed. i have slept on it for 3 nights and so far... it is a great experience. it's VERY comfortable. it's quite firm... and then you sink into it it. i'm 67 and this bed seems to give perfect support, no aches, no pains, solid sleep. one quirk is that you have to get into the knack of getting into it and then getting into the knack of out of it. it cradles the body, and not exactly being a spring chicken anymore, getting out of bed is an exercise in rolling over to the edge. the 14" mattress is quite high. my legs dangle. kind of fun actually. seemed a little bit pricey but it seems to be worth it. and btw: for style marks, if your buying a mattress for style... your'e doing it wrong and again: the comfort rating goes from firm to average to soft.. this is an extreamly comfortable mattress but term like soft and firm just don't fit the bill. someone needs to work on their diction oh! if you don't have a good solid foundation... get one. it's foam. it will not span a bed frame without support. it needs to be laid on top of something SOLID!

I did some research into the memory foam thing, realizing every mattress is a tradeoff in terms of layers, thickness, densities--and cost. The thicker the base layer (generally an inexpensive type foam) in proportion to the upper memory foam/gel foam layers (where the expense comes in), the less expensive the overall mattress. If you want more of a memory foam experience, you need to spend a bit more; plus I think the gel layer in this and other beds does "cool off" the overall sleep experience and is worthwhile. This mattress gives me the perfect tradeoff of cost and function, and my guess is that I saved about 50% off what the biggest name in memory foam (the Swedish company) would have charged for a similar sleep experience. I did just spend 4 years sleeping on one of their better beds, so I was nervous switching brands to save money. SO GLAD I DID!! :-) Just like on the name brand bed, I wake up well rested with no pain. Finally: do not skimp on the mattress protector, its an absolute must in case of spills or accidents. The good ones are completely waterproof yet breathable, and feel like regular soft fabric (no plastic, no crinkles)---and stay fully functional for years. Fluid can ruin this kind of foam, and any spots or stains on a mattress makes a warranty claim nearly impossible. Read the fine print, all right there.
