I purchased two of the Champion 75531i for my DJ/Karaoke business. I got a great deal by ordering from Overstock. After they arrived I thought to myself that's why they were so cheap (minor damage). Well I followed the instructions and contacted Champion support instead of Overstock. They assured me that all of there products were shipped brand and that they were inspected prior to shipment. So not Overstocks fault. They are shipped from Champions warehouse somewhere in Ohio. They did say however that they had seen an increase in damage resulting from mishandling in shipping. Because of that they extend their warranty to customers that incur damage during shipping. They offered to set me up with the nearest repair shop or send the parts and I could install myself. I opted for the self install. This was on Monday, the parts arrived on Friday (along with two free generator covers). I had already ordered two from another distributor, so now I have four. I did all the correspondence through email using the support link on their website. Never had to place a call. They even offer to update my warranty with my sales receipt so I wouldn't have to mail in the warranty card. One of the parts that was broken was a left side handle. They sent another portion of the handle instead. Almost the same part number. (one number different). I emailed them back and the next Friday I received a complete handle. Left, right and back. I gased and oiled the generators and ran for 5 hours per the instructions. They run great. They are very quiet generators, though I can only compare to regular generators (or other devices that make noise) not Honda or Yamaha since I have never owned either of these. I plugged in an air compressor on eco mode and they didn't even blink. I have seen several tests where the sound levels are measured from the exhaust end of the generator and its about 56-58 db. I noticed that from either side, left or right, that the level is even lower. I later ordered two of the champion 25 foot generator power cables for these but they did not fit. The cables have a 3 prong L5-30P plug and the generator has a TT-30R outlet. Can probably be used with an adapter. I emailed overstock and they sent me the prepaid return postage label so I can return them. No hassle. Overall I think these excellent for the price. In the end you will have to decide if they will fit your needs. For me they were just what I needed price wise and performance wise. I see the price has dropped since I purchased, so now would be a good time to buy.
Started right up. Took it camping at elevations greater than 6000 feet this past week. Purred right long with the other generators at camp. It was only a tiny bit louder than the more expensive red generators. That being said our Champion was also twice that watts! Such a great buy, especially with the extra coupon I found. FYI- the generator sent to us was grey and black not yellow. Its called the " Category 5" by Champion. It was renamed and color change for sale at northern tool. After research we found out it is in fact the same generator. The black/grey color combo is nice too. The color and name are the only difference. We would highly recommend this generator.
Shipped in 4 days. Met AZ's price. No sales tax or shipping charge. Added 600ml 0f 10w-30 Valvoline full synthetic oil, about a pint of gas, one pull and it started. Wife was impressed with the quietness. Powered up everything on the camper including a 13.5K AC. Would have given it 5 stars but haven't taken it camping yet. Super value, super price.
