I bought this one for my daughter-in-law after owning mine for 21 years. Mine still works as good as day one and we use our steamer at least 3-4 times/week.... for 20 years. We've never even had to use de-scaler or vinegar. Steam comes out strong as ever, no odor. Can add a little laundry water for a bit of luxury. Use it for freshening dry-clean items, silks, jeans, curtains, new rugs that don't want to lay flat. It's a well-loved well-used item in our house. Son and DIL use it regularly since they received. Husband even loves it. We met 6 years ago and he used to iron regularly. I swore he'd rarely pick up an iron again and it's true! He's particular about pressed shirts and slacks. He went from ironing almost every work outfit to a little steaming and out the door. Doesn't burn anything but actually works MUCH better than other brands I've used others and they do not compare. Buy the Jiffy, best steamer out there IMO. You'll wish you owned one of these years ago & will never go back to regular ironing.
I love this steamer. I find myself using it for more than clothes....especially more than clothes, actually. I use it on my mattresses and pillows to kill any 'critters' and micro-organisms there may be lingering in the materials. I use it in the bathroom to steam clean the toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, and hard to reach areas that a floor steamer can't reach. I even use it when I give myself a facial! It's versatile and mobile. I wish the plug/cord was longer...I do need an extension cord with this machine. It does get very hot. If you use it for facials as I do, be extremely careful. Remember your hands can usually withstand higher temperatures than your face so lean your face into the wand slowly to determine the comfortable distance...don't measure temperature tolerance with your palm/fingers. For clothes, it works best on light-weight cottons and for items that need a quick pick-me-up. Overstock shipped this quickly and immediately fixed a problem (the machine arrived with one broken caster). O-stock found a replacement caster and sent it ASAP. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
I had heard from a well qualified source (a gentleman that always looked so classy and well dressed at Sunday School!) about this product. He said that he had tried many other brands, but the "Jiffy" steam brand was by far his favorite brand for steamers. I decided I would give it a go. I am so pleased with my choice! It was quite a bit of money, but in this machine, I guess you get what you pay for! I have burned myself on the long arm (my fault, completely! I am clumsy and tend to not know where my body parts are at all times...my arms especially flail about....lol....) of the steamer, but I LOVE this thing. You need to used distilled water, as directed, because it will save your machine in the long run from the build up of minerals etc... It is so much safer and easier for me to use a steamer on my "delicate" women's clothes (read...just about any blouse) than an iron. It is so, so fast. It can steam a shirt in about 30 seconds or less. I haven't ironed but a few items since I purchased this steamer. It has been a time saver. I highly encourage first time buyers. Save up your money, and purchase a heavy duty Jiffy steamer. It is worth its weight in gold. I love mine.
I have had the steamer for a year now and it is AMAZING!!! I have not picked up my iron once since I purchased this steamer. It is SO fast! It is easy to use...especially when I'm running late in the morning. Now I have a much more professional look! It also works great on items that are tough to iron (back-drops, duvet covers, etc.) In her book, How to Get Dressed: A Costume Designer's Secrets for Making Your Clothes Look, Fit and Feel Amazing, Alison Freer says getting a steamer is her single best tip. It really is amazing how much of a difference it will make in your wardrobe and how you look.
