I slept on the futon for over a month while waiting for my belongings from out of state to arrive to my apartment. For a futon mattress it's pretty comfortable and friends who have stayed with me whole visiting have also been surprised by how nice it is for sleeping. The down-side of this thing is when you want to use it as a couch. It does not retain a good couch shape like in the photo, and will slide down very easily--creating a very uncomfortable "wave" shape against your back. Getting a futon cover help, but overall it's just too heavy of a mattress to sit upright comfortably.
Very comfortable mattress to sleep on , super soft, recommend to all. You will love it. Luxurious looking . And it fits into regular 10" futon slipcover , at first we thought we wouldn't able to do it , just by looking at the mattress it seemed huge, but we did it! You don't have to worry about buying 12" cover.... it will fit in your regular 10" slipcover.
I was hesitant but read the reviews by other folks...I was totally surprised when I got this. First, it had NO chemical smell to it when I unwrapped it. I left it on the floor for about 12 hours and then put a cover on it I had. Put it on the futon frame and it's really comfy! I feel like it was a great buy for the price. Lucky me!
The mattress has held up nicely (2yrs now). I still compare every futon mattress to the original futon I purchase which was closer to an actual mattress and had a cover that could come off without the insides falling apart. That mattress lasted 10 yrs. The frame of this current futon is where I have the most issues. It doesn't support the weight of one heavy individual nor does it support 3 adult people of normal weight (I have seen when people sit the metal frame and the legs spreading outward). The metal frame has now bowed out and both the metal legs (front and back) have torn through the plastic covering marking any floor that is not concrete (like my basement, where it is now). One more thing you can't sit on it like a bed when it is let out the futon will flip on you because it is not centered with let out. I never had that problems with my previous nor anyone else's.
