I love it! This Sunpan madero coffee table is a big, heavy, solid-looking table. And it anchors my livingroom nicely. It's a statement piece, a focal point. I love how it looks like a sculptural piece of art. Is it furniture, is it art? It's both! Lol :D Clean, simple lines. A substantial piece that doesn't require an equally large footprint. I got it in driftwood and glad I did. It's a chunky piece of furniture but it's softened by the lighter "sun-bleached" color and "worn" edges. So know how I said it's a "solid-looking" table above? It's NOT solid wood construction. I was wondering when I ordered. I couldn't find that info anywhere, even on the manufacturer's website. So I took a chance. There's a lot of composite wood used. Looks like the only places they used real solid wood are here: underneath the tabletop and the cores of each leg. The core legs are surrounded by a thick outter composite wood layer which makes them look like thick beams of wood. And the tabletop isn't a solid slab of wood (I didn't expect it to be). It's a box construction turned upside down. Then all surfaces are veneered. Not cheap ikea veneer, it's wood veneer w wood grain. If you're curious about the "assembly required" part... This Sunpan Madero coffee table is held together with large strong furniture screws w allen socket heads and double washers on each screw. An allen key is included. You don't need to have any of your own tools. BUT... I must warn you that it was a pain (I'd like to use a more colorful word here) to line all the holes up! The crooked legs look great but they do not assemble easily. I almost gave up and was a hair away from calling the freight company to come and pick it back up :0 My advice is to keep the legs very loosely screwed in at the bottom base platform so that each leg still has a lot of wiggle room. I'm a small petite 5'2" woman and I was able to put it all together myself, but not without a lot of elbow grease (and knee grease!). If you can find this coffee table locally, fully assembled, buy it there! Once assembled, the table looks and feels sturdy and solid. Although it is assembly required, I would say it's much better than ikea. It's what ikea could strive to be when it grows up. Now that it's sitting proudly in my livingroom, I admire it everyday. I love it, but know what you're ordering and the work you're signing up for ;)
The sofa is very pretty, high end looking and feeling, with nice firm cushions to sit on, but the back cushions are very soft, they;re down-filled and cave in when you lean back, which makes it a bit uncomfortable because this is a very, very deep couch, you end up in a semi-reclined position when leaning back on it. It's very awkward. It is so pretty and modern, and a great dark but warm gray, that we are keeping it, and will have the back cushions re-stuffed with firm interiors by a local furniture repair shop. That's how much we like it. Willing to do that to keep it. Other sofas we have purchased in this price range from Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel were so flimsy and cheap, they caved in, and gave out immediately. Compared to the heavy duty quality of this one, and the gorgeous style, it makes sense to keep it and have new inserts made for the the back pillows.
Arrived in excellent condition. We use it as a bathroom island in the Texas sized bathroom. Great for seating ( putting on stockings, etc.) Great match with Sunpan Black Oliver Stool.
I first bought 6 matching Sunpan Modern dining chairs and was sOOO impressed with the quality and comfort that I decided to buy the barstools. Wish I had room for more of them. Highly recommend this product.
