Effective pond de-icer
Purchased this model after my heating bell stopped working early January. Because the pond was iced over I had to initially put it in a bucket to start thawing a hole since I do not own an ice ager. I found that only a metal pot allow enough heat transfer but I still had to augment with boiling water to break through. The de icer was in a plastic bucket for 2 days and then a metal bucket for 1. I was surprised to see within 12 hours of floating on the pond that the foam tube had expanded like structural foam. I do not know how this will impact the longevity of this de-icer. It has been three days and the de icer is still working. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for this uncertainty. The manufacturers instructions did not indicate this foam reaction.
Take Me To The Fountain
Wanted to build a new fountain with longer, higher water run. So, after doing some reading, I checked with O-stock and found this Danner SP-200. The manufacturer's specs and performance notes seemed right. I finished the basic fountain construction Saturday 30 April, and when I installed the pump I wasn't sure it would work as I hoped. But, it does. It moves a healthy stream of water approximately six feet up, and seven feet diagonally from the base to the top level. Definitely the right purchase at the right price.
