I am using this pump for water flow in a garden fountain. The description indicates a flow sufficient for a 24" rise. It is true that the pump is strong enough to raise the water 24", but only a trickle is produced. I was looking for a stronger flow. Having nothing else to use, I will continue with this until I find a stronger pump. Very difficult to find what you need when electricity measures in gallons per hour and solar measures in Watts.
I bought this to replace a previous pump which eventually wore out. This one has two advantages over the previous pump: water flow is adjustable and it is a bit smaller, so it fits better in the bottom of a copper fountain I use it in. While the hinged support for the solar panel seems like a good idea, it feels a bit less secure to me. Oh, one more advantage -- one can unplug the cord from the solar panel.
This is an easy to service filter and filter media is readily available from various pond suppliers. A bit small for the size pond we have but works well in fall through winter. Need to service more often in late spring and through out summer. Best to purchase 2 so you can rotate one out and service the other when convenient. Typically service about every 3-4 weeks for our pond (est 3000 Ga). Have tried to purchase additional filters but Overstock no longer carries them.
