This contemporary floor lamp really adds the perfect touch to our room. We love the small half-moon feature, as it adds ambience with it's soft glow for evenings when we are watching TV. The light coming from the regular lamp shade on top is definitely adequate for reading; we are using a CF bulb that is equivalent to a 40 watt standard light bulb. We tried a bulb that was equivalent to a 60 watt standard light bulb, but it made the glow of the lamp shade look a bit too "greenish" for our liking. The color of both lamp shades with the bulbs turned off is a true gold. The fabric on them is something similar to a silk fabric.
it's a table lamp. it's cool, but it's SUPER cheap. the awesome top part detracts from the totally made in china couldn't be more faux silver. not sure how long it will last, but it's fun, i'm keeping it. The thing is totally cheap, but even my 10 year old boy said when i turned it on, "mom, that's a cool lamp." winning.
This is an attractive lamp, a good height, really good light dispersal, and it's a little whimsical, a conversation piece that adds to the pleasing ambience of a room because of its design. But it does have a couple of flaws. The lamppost is a little too faux in that the spools of "wood" have too many markings. Also, either my floor slopes in spots or the base of the lamp is not entirely flat.
Maybe I didn't read the description enough but the base has a faux paint finish on it that looks kind of dumb up close. Like that sponge painting technique in the 90's. From far away its nice though and is sturdy. I'm keeping it.
