Purchased this for my wife for mother's day this year. The unit arrived safely and although pretty heavy, we were able to move it to our deck using two people. Had it up and running in no time, works perfectly, plenty of heat and great light at night. The problems started when we had it covered for several days in the sun. The cover is cheap plastic and it must have melted or de-laminated under the heat and sun. When we went to use the pit the next time, the cover was stuck to the top of the fire pit and basically shredded. So then we had strips of plastic stuck to the top surface and the cover was wrecked. Word of caution, any cleaner, even soap and water will remove the dark finish on this pit. Learned this the hard way trying to remove the stuck on cover pieces. Although we were successful in getting it all cleaned off, we will have to repaint the surface to cover up the spots that the finish failed. Not a big deal, but you figure when you spend this much money they could include a decent cover...
I've tried just about every brand of Gel Fuel (FireGlo, Sun Jel, etc). Real Flame is by far the best in terms of the overall quality of the flame (burns for about 2.5 hours) and the heat generated (about 3000 Btus). Try Real Flame...I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I have had this on my fire pit for a little while now. It was true to size and easily cinched to close it. We have had a few wind storms in NY, and it has stayed on tight. Due to it being an outdoor in full sun product, I don't expect it to last more than a couple of seasons.
