Color is exactly right for my walls and is not too “shiney”, as in most taffeta. Perfect for my traditional Living Room. All smiles here!

Very well made...heavy duty and blocks out light well. The eggshell is true to color...creamy light yellow. I was wanting curtains that had a light golden hue, and these fit the bill. The packaging and delivery was as promised, and I actually received them a few days early. I plan to order from Overstock again, because the pricing and service is outstanding. I purchased real silk curtains from another vendor years ago, and these curtains were an upgrade from them.

These curtains are well made, beautiful and luxurious. They hang well and have a nice backing. I get lots of compliments on these curtains. I want to purchase more of these for other rooms in my home.

These curtains I was expecting to be extra nice, from all of the reviews I have read. Why people feel they have to review everything they buy as being extra nice is beyond me, The curtains are below average but since I am not critical on having perfection these will due for now. I got 4 panels. The curtains have to be pulled and stretched to have the silk on the right side. Its really hard to explain but the front on a few panels, while hung, hang okay but the other few want to curl around to the back. I want to go to them constantly adjusting them to stay to the front toward the room and not curl toward the window. Since these were not expensive I will be taking them down and sewing two of the panels together to form one large panel. This might work with the curling that leave the gaps that cannot keep out that hot summer sun. The backing of the curtains look much batter than the cheap thin layer of silk on the front that appears very cheap.

    • Beautiful curtains, but not truly blackout.

For reference I purchased these in Mediterranean. The reason I'm giving these 2 stars is because they're advertised as blackout curtains, when in reality "room darkening" curtains is more of an accurate representation of their capabilities. If blocking out as much light as possible is a priority for you, although these are beautiful I suggest you look elsewhere. Note: I'm not drawing this conclusion from the light that escaped from the top (as this is unpreventable unless you purchase a swag) I'm just making the observation that the light is actually going through the fabric.

These curtains kept out the cold all winter for us. We have one window with poor insulation because it's an older home and these curtains helped. They're nice and heavy and feel very high quality.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"I am looking for a white curtain, should I order eggshell? It looks white in the photo..."

      • A:

Although I ordered mine about a year ago, I did buy the eggshell and the color I received is a true white, not cream or beige. I hope this helps.

      • A:

They are definitely white! I love mine and they do a wonderful job of keeping the sunlight out!

      • A:

Yes, Eggshell is one of the many shades of white. It's best described as a soft white.

      "Are these total blackout curtains?"

      • A:

Yes, I have the Graphite and the room is dark.

      • A:

Yes , they are and are 100% effective against our Texas Coastal Sun !

      • A:

        Yes. Curtains are truly blackout.

      • A:

Yes they are. Beautiful fabric also

    • Q:

"Do these have tabs for pinch pleat hooks?"

      • A:

No tabs for pinch pleats. It slides on the curtain rod, so it has a rod pocket.

      • A:

It has a rid pocket, but also has a strip sewn on the back with spaced openings to slide in pinch pleat pins. You can count the slots and calculate spacing from there.

      • A:

But it does have very nice small sewn on tabs that I used with hooks and rings and they look amazing!

      • A:

No tabs, a rod pocket. But you can use rings with clips or there is curtain tape that you could use curtain pins to create more of a pinch pleat look. Good luck.

      • A:

My panels have both a rod pocket and a back tab (with just a single row of loops for hooks). I think it would need to be modified to use a pinch pleat hook.

    • Q:

"Is the Mediterranean color a teal shade?"

      • A:

This product doesn't have green undertones. It's more of a deep peacock blue.

      • A:

Mediterrean is definitely a peacock blue, not at all teal. They offer this in teal though. I went back and forth between the two. Search for exclusive fabrics peacock.

    • Q:

"Has anyone used this particular curtain for their sliders (doorwall)?"

      • A:

Yes, this panel can be attached to traverse/slider rods.

    • Q:

"My panels did not come with hooks and I do want to attach to rings I already have. Any advice on exactly which hook to buy? The standard hoods used for pleated drapery doesn't work. TIA!"

      • A:

I used these hoops with clips ... there are larger ones depending on the size of your curtain rod ... ITEM#: 14527997

      • A:

Yes you can attack rings to these panels. I did it and mines look beautiful. I thought I could post a pic on them in my response but I was unable.

    • Q:

"I would like to order these in black. Would the back side of these be black as well?"

      • A:

My red ones (paprika) were lined with white.

      • A:

I ordered these navy blue drapes/curtains specifically because I wanted white back sides (white facing the window) so when you look at the window from the street it is mostly all white like the blinds. I wanted all white on the back side, but these still have navy blue on the sides of the drapes in the back. I hope this helps.

      • A:

I ordered these in Antique beige and the blackout lining is a cream color. Unfortunately I can't speak to the color on the black panels, but I would guess it's the same lining as mine. They're certainly thick enough that the cream color wouldn't show through the black fabric.

      • A:

Yes, I believe so. I ordered mine in platinum. It matches the front, but is a thicker fabric.

    • Q:

"I have sliding doors how many panels do I have to order "

      • A:

My windows are as wide as a pair of sliding glass doors, I bought one pair. Good luck!

      • A:

        Thank you !!!

      • A:

The panels are 50 inches wide and you need at least twice the width of the window or sliding doors, plus a little overhang to make them look good. I would say for 60 inch doors you should do 3 panels.

      • A:

The rule of thumb for any window covering is 2 and a half times the width. That will give the proper fullness.

      • A:

It depends on what kind of look you are after. Measure the width and multiply it by 1.5 or If you want a 'richer' look, multiply by 2. My window was 70" wide and I used 4 panels.

      • A:

figure each panel will cover 25" of window or sliding door, so measure your door, divide by 25.

    • Q:

"Can these be steamed? I tried a warm iron, but they wanted to melt. Love the quality and the look, just need those wrinkles gone!"

      • A:

I have not steamed these drapes. I just hung them and within 1 week the wrinkles from being packaged had smoothed themselves out. These drapes are beautiful!!

      • A:

Update: I tried a low steam on these while hanging and they just started to pucker, so I took them down, folded them into a large bundle (108" drapery), and put them one at a time into my dryer on the "touch up" cycle for 2 minutes, shook them out, put them back in for another 2 minutes, shook them out again until they were completely cooled, then hung them. PERFECT! Wrinkles gone and they look absolutely amazing.

      • A:

I just put mine in the dryer with a damp towel and hanged them up.

      • A:

I was not as lucky as the previous person. They've been hanging for at least six months and the wrinkles did not hang out!!!! Mine are the dark blue/green--can't remember what they called the color. They are definitely room darkening, but I'm afraid to try to steam them. If anyone else has an idea, please let us all know.

    • Q:

"For the type of draping pictured, how much overlap should the curtain have than the actual length if the curtain were to just barely touch the floor?"

      • A:

Don't bother, they don't drape as much as bend. These are very heavy panels, and you don't get a true puddle effect.

    • Q:

"What is the Width of the panel? I didn't see it on the specs?"

      • A:

The panels are 50 inches wide.

      • A:

        50 inches wide

        No, sold as single.

"Are the "eggshell" curtains actually eggshell color, or could they pass as white curtains? The photo makes them appear white."

      • A:

Mine came today and theyre stark white compared to my offwhite trim.

    • Q:

"Is there a shop where one can go and see the various colors? Or do you send color samples? Thanks"

      • A:

Unfortunately we do not have any samples to send.

    • Q:

"I want to order the navy curtains. Wanted to know if they are a true navy color or more blue. "

      • A:

Unfortunately, we do not currently have a restock date.

    • Q:

"What kind of rod do you need with the curtains?"

      • A:

These curtains are perfect for any time of rod. I would select a rod based on what look are you going for. When I bought these fab curtains, I was looking to get a hip and luxe look for the widows in my dining area. I have my on a long thin antique gold rod using antique gold curtain rod rings. Hope that helps.

    • Q:

"How would you best describe the platinum and graphite colors. I'm trying to decide which would best work for me."

      • A:

They are both a gray. One is a little darker then the other. I lOve these curtains. So well made and they look elegant and expensive.

      • A:

I have the graphite curtains and they are darker thqn the platinum. (Almost like a pencil lead in color but a little shinier.). They are gorgeous! Complete sun blockers too!

    • Q:

"I cannot use the rod pocket so please, please how does the "hook-belt" function? I would buy these if I knew that I could hang them. A photo or an illustration would be most welcome. Thank you!"

      • A:

They come with small drapery hooks and the back of these are so professional tailered with a hook strip across the entire length and has little like "pockets" so to speak that you just have to decide where you want the drapery hooks to be placed, I used 6 and strategically placed them along each panel and then attached my rings. You don't even see the hooks. They hang so wonderfully by the rings and look so fabulous! Buy them!
