Single bowl, modern design with 1/2" radius interior corners, straight sidewalls, flat front apron, 7/8" material thickness, and glossy glaze. With a total of over 550 square inches of interior sink workspace, Fossil Blu's 36" sinks are designed to be the workhorse of the kitchen. The flat-front apron provides a clean and classic look with the rectangular shape itself being the design. Characteristic of the natural fireclay material underneath, the sink has soft edges and a supple overall appearance.


SINK MATERIALS & MANUFACTURING

SINK MATERIAL: Fine & ultra-fine fireclay

Fossil Blu fireclay farmhouse sinks feature authentic SOLID fine and ultra-fine fireclay. Authentic fireclay is a semi-rare natural white clay containing higher concentrations of quartz (silica) than typical ceramic (kaolin) clays. This higher concentration of quartz is important during high-firing of the glaze (learn more below) and is why genuine fireclay sinks, such as Fossil Blu, are priced higher than other "fireclay" sinks. We source our fireclay base material from mines following reduced-input/output (more sustainable) mining practices in Italy, France and Israel. Once at our factory (in Turkey), the clay is rehydrated, then molded via a 50,000-pound hydraulic press.


SINK FINISH (GLAZE) INFORMATION

This sink features Fossil Blu's legendary silica-based glossy white glaze, which is similar to "Appliance" white with neither a warm nor cool tint. During firing, the silica of the glaze fuses with the silica of the substrate, thereby creating an incredibly durable single structure. This "single structure" is what separates fireclay from typical/inexpensive ceramic products, which are fired at lower temperatures, exhibit little fusing, and are thin and/or hollow structures.

One (1) modern DESIGN-PRO sink grid, one (1) basket strainer drain, and one (1) garbage-disposal flange. For material strength, these accessories are made from 304 stainless steel, and electro-plated in genuine Polished Nickel. Our DESIGN-PRO grids were developed with input from our trade clients. Available in 5 finishes, they are not only striking in appearance, but the thin gaps make for a flat surface, keeping glassware upright, while still allowing for easy drainage.
