After purchasing a higher bed, we needed a larger stand for our 36" TV in the bedroom. This was easy to assemble, very heavy and sturdy. It says its for the corner, but we actually have it flat agains the wall and it looks great because it fits the depth of the TV. Due to the back of the TV, we couldn't get an armoire because they don't make them deep enough and you have to either keep the doors open or move it away from the wall, which looks completely ridiculous. This piece fixed all of our problems. It was cheaper than anything I could get locally and came with free shipping, so I saved on taxes, shipping and bodily injury since I didn't have to move it from the store and home. Thanks Overstock!!
Finally upgraded to flat screen and wanted to replace tv armoire with a piece that wasn't so deep. This piece is nicer than I expected and takes up so much less room than my old armoire with much more storage and places for accessories and game systems. Took a long time to put together but instructions were very specific and all the pieces were very well organized and labelled by letter. It might be a little difficult if you have never put together furniture before but I am an expert having bought many things from Ikea, etc. This instructions and pieces were a lot more organized and specific than anything else I have gotten. All you need is a screwdriver but a light duty drill or electronic screwdriver will definitely help, especially when applying the back pieces which, by the way, have lots of good size holes to run wires through. Also one person can definitely handle putting this together on his/her own. All the pieces are solid wood except for the heavy cardboard pieces for the back and two of the drawer bottoms are masonite- they are all stained dark to match the wood. I think anyone would be very satisfied with this piece.
We bought this piece to replace a very large (and old) media armoire in our newly renovated living room. We were a bit nervous about putting it together (having previously read reviews that claimed doing so was a snap as well as those that said it wasn't). The good news: nothing was damaged in transit, and all of the pieces (including hardware) were well labeled. Additionally, we found that assembling the drawers and sides (first steps) was a pretty straightforward task. We experienced difficulty, however, when trying to connect the sides to the top. It was a very unwieldy maneuver (we enlisted a contractor friend's assistance), and in the process the cam locks (which are very light weight and appear to be made of plastic) actually broke in half. Fortunately, we were able to purchase stronger versions in a nearby hardware store. One other note: We found it necessary to pre-drill holes for the back coverings (there were none) and also to re-drill the hinge holes for the two glass doors so that the screws could be more easily inserted. It's a very handsome piece, to be sure, (especially for the price) and we don't regret buying it. :)
