I don't normally write reviews, but I often look at reviews about a product and it helps me in making my decision so I figured when I love or hate something I need to tell other fellow buyers. I have searched near and far for a rustic tv console that would be the perfect match for my tv and my style. I was skeptical to purchase this one because it had no reviews, but from the picture it was exactly what I wanted so I figured I'd take the chance. The product took a week to arrive, but it was in perfect condition. My husband and I assembled it together and it took about an hour and a half. It would have been less time if we did it right the first time :) but we realized our mistake quickly and we were able to fix it no problem. It even came with extra screws which was good bc one of our cam screws broke. Any ways, once it was put together we were so happy with it ! Definitely recommend this product if your looking for a rustic look!
1) Had a tough time assembling it.
2) Instructions are misleading. Guy wrote it should be fired.
3) Loved the end product. All the pain was worth it for the price.
Note- I had to buy set of L brackets to make sure end panels are at fixed position. Just a precaution i took out of my guess work about it holding a 70 lb TV
This really looks and feels like genuine reclaimed wood. Somewhat easy to put together (similar to IKEA) and such a clean, beautiful design. The only downside is that there are sizable holes in the back panel for each opening that I covered with wood designed contact paper. Otherwise beautiful!!
I read previous reviews prior to purchasing this tv stand, so I was prepared for the rigorous and labor intensive assembly that other buyers warned about. They were right! My husband and father (much more handy than I) put this together in about five hours, with the assistance of a power drill. I noticed a couple of the pictures in the instruction manual are slightly off, which made for some confusion during assembly. But- the good news is that the tv stand is beautiful and as pictured once you get it complete. If you have the skill and the patience, I think it's well worth the cost. Taking one star off because of the assembly.
For the price, the quality is great. It came promptly. It wasn't too difficult to put together. I recommend using a power drill to put all the screws in. Once put together, the piece is very attractive. Our TV looks great on it. Do not put too much weight in the drawers; however, the bottoms are not solid wood. I was hoping to store DVD's in it, but I opted not too because I am worried the drawers cannot carry the weight.
I purchased the Myra TV stand along with matching Myra bookcase because I really like the design style and the price was decent.
At first, I was a bit concerned about the quality of the product after reading a few reviews about problems with the wood splitting or arriving broken. However, those same reviews also mentioned Overstock's phenomenal customer service with shipping out replacement parts as needed. So I decided to take a chance . . .
Both products arrived within 5 days on my doorstep. No one was home at the time, but luckily I live in a nice gated community, so the furniture was still there when I came home. I was worried cause the boxes looked a little beat up and I braced myself for broken pieces inside.
I opened up both boxes and inspected all the parts. Everything was in perfect condition.
Assembly was simple. I really like the clever design where the middle shelves simply drop down and stay in place without needing any screws.
The only tool I used to complete the assembly was a phillips head screw driver, which was semi difficult due to the screw holes not being pre-drilled. The holes are only notched in a bit to let you know where the screw goes. So having an electric screw driver would be handy. I had trouble getting some of the screws to go in all the way with just my manual screw driver. But with persistence and some upper body strength, I eventually got the screws in place.
The other thing to know about this product is that the wood shelves are not actually one solid piece of wood. They are made up of about 3 inch wide slats that are glued together. So that is why others have had problems with the wood splitting apart. The wood slats are also not uniform throughout, which gives this product more of a rustic, reclaimed wood look. That's why I love it. This is not the ugly particle board with fake veneer furniture that comes from Wal-Mart or Ikea.
So far the wood shelves have not split apart. They look and feel really solid. I'm not sure what the recommended weight capacity is, but my tv stand is supporting a 40" flat screen with no problems. I'm sure it could support an even bigger, heavier tv.
I would highly recommend this product!
I completed the assembly project the day after Thanksgiving. I read the instructions several times and followed the drawings provided for assembly. Everything went smoothly. The final product looks great! Now waiting for my 65 inch TV arriving this week.
I would have given this item 5 stars, except for a couple things. One of the feet did not have the pre-drilled dowel holes. As there was an additional bolt to attach it, I went ahead with the construction. (You can order replacement parts online from the manufacturer - but who wants to wait when you've got all 2 dozen pieces strewn across your floor?). There was also a dowel that was too big (too fat so wouldn't go in the hole far enough), but I used a hacksaw to shorten it, so that was overcome. There were also a few problems with the directions, but patience and common sense prevailed. It took about 2.5 hours to unpack and build the unit (I did it by myself), and it was accomplished with relatively little cursing. Everything is labeled very clearly. One tip - don't screw in the cam bolts too far - the cam heads won't grab correctly.
Now I have to clean up all the packaging - the dog is eating all the plastic baggies!
This is a gorgeous stand when assembled. It's sleek and modern without feeling too clinical. It is sturdy as well, and provides ample storage. Of note: Assembly is an investment of time and patience. While not rocket science, the instructions are not entirely clear. You WILL need at least 2 people. My husband and I are are pretty handy, but this took us HOURS to complete. We still ended up with one divider (in the component insert section) backwards. (I later painted the unfinished, rough edge black as to be less noticeable.) You would think the drawers would all be the same size but we discovered they aren't. This matters because if each isn't in the appropriate slot, the doors to either side will not close properly. Anyone with a full size AV receiver should take note that it will likely be too large to fit into the open component slots toward the top. We ended up removing the middle drawer and fitting our receiver in there ( which, fortunately, doesn't look too trifling at all). The doors are A BEAST to hang in place. We are thoroughly convinced it would have been more sensible and less tedious if they were installed earlier as opposed to last. All that said, this is a fine entertainment center which will lend a sense of contemporary organization to your space.
Wayne's review "Was looking for something more grand in appearance or preferrably wider to hold a 65 inch tv. But settled on this on price and being good enough. However, this is very well made and the instructions are very clear. It's still MDF but of much higher quality than I had expected. I like being able to store books in the front to add some character to the stand as well. I always like to use the wood glue while putting knock down furniture together and this comes with a small packet. Make sure you keep a bottle of elmers or gorilla wood glue handy." Pretty much sums it up. I was in the same place wanting something larger but this piece is more than adequate and looks great.
Assembly wasn't too difficult, however I recommend a second set of hands while hanging the doors. MDF construction as you would expect for the price. Color is more of a light cherry color, not espresso, but I can live with it.
I bought this in maple and cream and it is beyond stunning! My wife actually received it while I was away on a business trip, so here are her comments.
As far as assembly, yes, it does take awhile but we're not talking some RTA piece of furniture from a big box store. This is a REAL piece of furniture. Here are some things you may want to be aware of before purchasing. The unit is delivered in three boxes, the smaller one (40 pounds) is the glass. The two larger boxes are about 70 pounds, so just know that you'll want to move them to the area you will be assembling the unit. I went through the instructions a couple of times before I started to familiarize myself with what had to be done. DON't start without having your tools assembled. Why make it frustrating, just have screw drivers, hammer, a drill and you're good to go. Take your time. You'll totally love this media unit when it's assembled, so enjoy creating it. If you want something you can throw together in an hour, go back to the box store. As a 60 year old, petite person, I was able to assemble the entire unit without any help. I didn't rush and it took me 6 hours, over two afternoons. We have a 65" TV on it and we will be up-sizing to an 80" as the unit can easily hold it. When the lights are on at the base in the evening, the unit glows. It seriously looks like we spent a couple thousand on this...so very, very happy with it.
Bought this stand because of its unique geometry and I absolutely love it. For only one person putting this together, it took me roughly three and a half hours to do so. Only reason why is because of the many pieces that went along with it; instructions weren't confusing at all. I will note that the only thing that you'll have to play around with to get on correctly are the glass door panels. If you don't place them correctly they won't shut all the way.
Wanted a floating unit but didn't want to spend a ton of money. Even though it's particle board, this piece looks great. Packaging was very heavy. Took about 3 hours to assemble and mount on my own. Some holes weren't drilled properly and really had to pay attention to the diagrams, but it was manageable. Space and cutouts for cables in the back and bottom - still need to find shorter power cable.
It seems to be of good quality, sturdy, looks good. The fire looks great when you turn it on, creates nice ambiance, and the heat feature works really well also. When i turn it on it warms up the room and you can really feel the heat. Totally happy with this purchase. Have only had the item a few months and used it a handful of times so my review is based on that.
This piece is slightly darker than appears in the picture, but still very pretty. Sturdy construction and very good directions and piece markings. The only reason 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 is that the holes for securing the heating unit should have been pre-drilled. I didn't have any difficulty putting together by myself except for an assist with the top piece. I am a woman in my middle 60's.
This 3 piece entertainment center is fantastic! It's well made- very heavy- the wood is beautiful and our 55 inch fits perfectly. I'm so happy I purchased this! I plan to add some baskets in the bottom to hide the tv cords
This TV stand arrived via UPS, and the box was in BAD shape; obviously mishandled in transit. It had an orange label on EVERY side that indicated it was to be lifted be TWO people, but there was only one delivery driver, who didn't even use a dolly, and then tried to get away before I saw he was here. I asked him what to do if the mdse was damaged. He just yelled out to go to UPS.com to file a complaint, and drove of. I was afraid to upon the box, but my husband did so for me (he has better luck) and thank goodness, the pieces were all fine. Styrofoam was crushed and broken, but not the furniture pieces. Now that it is assembled and set up, I love it! It is just as pictured and blends in perfectly with the mis-matched pieces I already have. I would recommend this product, but be sure to inspect it and be ready to file a complaint i it comes damaged! UPS has been VERY rough on items I've received lately, so I was "on guard!"
Great piece that adds a lot of ambience to the room. Ours arrived 98% problem free. No missing parts, but there was some minor damage to one of the pieces. We decided to accept it because it wasn't worth the hassle of getting a replacement and it is barely visible. The packaging could really be improved to prevent this type of damage.
The assembly takes a long time, (8 hours for one person working at a comfortable pace with the TV on in the background). The assembly is not that easy. The bookcases are relatively straightforward, but the fireplace portion is a bit more complicated. They did not have pre-drilled holes in places which really should have had them. At one point, I needed to use a tape measure to calculate where to put the holes. You can do it without a drill (I did) but it will be easier if you have one.
The color is similar to the picture, although in person it is warmer and slightly reddish. I would not go so far as to call it cherry, though. The electric fireplace looks great and gives the calming effect of a real fire. It does make a soft humming noise, which annoys me slightly but I think it's the type of thing that you would get used to and stop noticing.
I would highly recommend this product and it is worth the price.
the cabinet arrived as promised..this unit is solid wood..the colors on all the pieces match..every piece is marked & shows you the direction of the piece..( top or bottom)..each bag of parts are also marked..i have experience putting together units like this and it took me about 1.5 hrs to complete the cabinet..very simple tools needed..just need to take it slow & use the instructions..highly recommend this product...very happy with it..solid built & a handsome piece of furniture
I wanted to write this review to help those who were wondering how difficult this TV stand was to assemble, and help identify what to expect. It truly is a beautiful stand, and I am very happy I bought it.
What to expect from opening to finish product
Expect to have a ton of small Styrofoam chunks fly everywhere the moment you open the box. The Styrofoam clings to every piece, and what I did was I vacuumed each piece before assembling. Believe me, it was needed, and I figure it also saved a ton of hassle once this TV stand was completed.
First off, you do not need to drill any additional holes in this thing. Some reviews say you do - they may be referring to Step 11 of the instructions, where you screw in 8 screws to the underside of the half-completed stand. In this case, since it's particle board, you can simply just screw a bit into the board, without having to make a hole, with a screwdriver.
It took me a tiny bit of time to orient the diagram. Just focus on the "Part List" which is just before step 1. The instructions always show you the front side of the stand, unless otherwise stated.
I did note that step 2 has item C and B incorrectly labeled. This threw me off a tiny bit, but simply put for step 2 in the diagram: "Item C" should be labeled as "Item B", and vice versa.
All the pieces lined up for me, and I used all of the screws and dowel pieces in the process.
The corner legs are real wood. Everything else is particle wood. Should you be concerned that it's particle wood? In the end, it looks like a 500+ dollar item, which is quite sturdy and appealing, so you make the call.
The wrapping is a little thin; however, I have had no problems with it.
Some edges have very minor roughness, which are only noticeable up close. If they're showing the particle board, an easy fix is to just get a marker and color the exposed area. I didn't have to do this, but I have been a custom framer in a prior job and we used markers to paint corners which showed the raw wood on picture frames. A crayola marker or whatever will suffice.
Assembly took about 2.5 hours. I did this alone, and simply went at my own pace.
Finally, when hammering in the nails in the back board, you can trust the penciled lines drawn on the back to ensure you're hammering into the support columns. However, do double check.
I am happy with this purchase.
1. Relatively easy to assemble, particularly if you already have experience assembling *** furniture. The parts end up flushed against each other and there are no gaps, unlike some *** bookshelves. However, it has a lot of small parts and screws that you have to keep track of and not lose.
2. Adequate Storage. It holds our 58 inch TV, xfinity cable box and router, phone, play station, headphones, Wii, all the remotes, with room to spare for DVDs and other stuff.
3. It has wheels, so you can move it around (as it is heavy).
4. It is gorgeous, and looks more expensive than its price.
1. Assembly: You will need at least 2 people for assembly, as it is quite heavy and there are a lot screws that can get lost. Keep track of the small parts. There are instructions included, but if you are able to decipher *** instructions, you guys can survive this with little disagreements. It took us 2 1/2 hours to put together (we are tiny with some experience assembling furniture).
2. Wheels: Both a blessing and potential safety issue. Before you place your TV, make sure you test that the table is level and the wheels are level as well. Not all the wheels have locks (only 2).
This entertainment center is much better than I expected for the price. It has a nice rich stain color and the mission style is very nice. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a corner TV stand, we have a 46" TV on it and I think that is the max. One suggestion I have when you are buying inexpensive wood products is to put a coat of varnish on it before you use it. I always use a product called wipe-on poly, you don't need to use a brush, it just wipes on with a cloth and there are no runs, it is an awesome product. I have never been dissapointed with Overstock.
I did quite a bit of searching for electric fireplaces before deciding on this one. It looks exactly like another model with a different name from a different company, only it was $80 less. I actually prefer this one to the other brand because the fireplace controls are hidden behind a panel at the top of the firebox where, on the other model, the controls were stuck on the outside of the firebox at the bottom, making it look less genuine. The remote feature is great and assembly was pretty straightforward. It does recommend that you get wood glue for the bookshelves, which is not included in the materials. My only disappointment is that the bookshelves don't hold as much as I hoped they would. Even though I read the dimensions prior to buying, I was sad to find that most of the books I like to display were too tall to fit well on the shelf. But, it is great for knicknacks and pictures and the bookshelves really give it character and pull the room together. Also, if you're serious about buying, I'd suggest joining Club O first so you can get a percentage off. (I waited until after).
The product was delivered the day as promised. UPS brought it to my door . However, I had to bring it in by myself. I was home alone and was able to bring it in the house. However, it does weigh over 80 pounds. If you have to bring up stairs in my opinion there is no way you can do this unless you have help. The box is very large, heavy, and long so definitely have some help.
I attempted to assemble myself but quickly gave up as I realized this was much more harder than I thought. Overall the product took a little over two hours to assemble. My husband assembled it when he returned from work. What could of speed up the assembly process and made life a lot easier would have been better instructions. Several steps according to the instructions should have been prior to what they said. For example STEP 11 should be done way earlier, like step 2 or 3. Placing those brackets after the product is practically done is extremely difficult and not very well thought out. Parts #3 must be used in Step 7 but in the instructions they don't even mention it. You have to take it apart to add those little things on and that was frustrating. Also included is a bottle of glue, which we never used. So what is the glue for? It does not say in the instructions. Finally part E did not have the sticker on it, so we had to figure out which one was E.
Even though the assembly process was a pain, and time consuming the overall product once assembled is quite modern, elegant, and dare I say even attractive. I would recommend because for the price I believe you are getting a nice piece of furniture. It looks more expensive than what you paid. But have patience and get handy Mandy to help you cause I can see you throwing a hammer and drinking an entire bottle of wine trying to put this thing together by yourself.
I was a little worried about the quality from the other reviews, but each of the concerns I read weren't an issue. One reviewer said that it sagged in the middle. Well, maybe they made a design change to it because there is a middle support on mine. It looks great, and is just what I wanted.
Delivery team was very professional and courteous. The only thing that would have made this go better was some e-mail communication from the transporter -- I had to call to get a delivery date.
It looks great, I ordered the gray oak look, the color is nice for being pressed wood, looks great for the basement and will look great with the off white enameled woodwork. I put it together, I did glue the dowels, instructions didn't say too but I felt it was a good idea. I can't add a picture as of yet for my husband did not help me hang it.
Like most furniture you buy online, you solely rely on a few product images and hopefully some reliable reviews, and you simply hope for the best.
The box for this piece weighs in at about 70-pounds, and was neatly organized with a bunch of isolating materials. Even though the box was heavily damaged on the sides, the styrofoam did its job and held it together without any major damages.
I say major, since there was one dent in the inside piece of the cabinet, but I simply decided that it could be easily fixed with some brown coloring.
The quality of this piece is above any budget furniture you'd buy in your store, and it feels solid - like it will actually last years and years, and a couple of moves from home to home. But beneath the faux-walnutty luster is a MDF/veneer material that if closely inspected, not the best type of material for a long-lasting furniture.
The assembly is certainly easy, but requires that you pay attention to the small details - since this is actually a piece that you'd be able to deconstruct when you move out from your house or apartment.
With that said, I highly recommend this "Entertainment Center", as it offers a sexy sleek look to your living room.
This entertainment center is very lovely and fits perfectly in my son’s living room, really pulls it together. It is very sturdy and looks very expensive. When it arrived and he went to put t together there were screws missing so we called Overstock to get replacement screws. They wanted me to call the manufacturer to see about replacement screws but I refused as I purchased through them. They sent me a new entertainment center so that I could remove the screws and then have to figure out a way to repackage the whole thing and send it back. That was inconvenient and required a lot of packing tape. The process took entirely to long. All in all my son and his wife love the entertainment center and are happy with it so it earns high ratings despite the trouble.
