These are beautiful dinner plates, but can also be displayed on a wall (hole in the back for hanging). The traditional ways of making pottery start with they clay that is cast into the handmade molds. Once dried, the mold is removed and the first kiln firing takes place. After the first firing, an artist paints the piece. It is then glazed and fired for a last time. These are unique, beautiful and very functional. Product Features Authentic Mexican Pottery. Meet the Arisans!  The small, family owned workshop is based in Guanajuato, Mexico.  It celebrates the fine ceramic craftsmanship of the region using time-honored techniques in the production.  Clay is mined from the surrounding mountains and then worked into the shapes and designs.  Men tend to the kiln, while women artisans hand-paint the intricate and colorful motifs.  Each is a piece of art and capture the flavor of Mexico.  The workshop employs men and women from the area, providing fair wages and safe working conditions.
