Story Behind the Art:

The Elephant sculpture is created by the Wilfred Ounde family in town of Tabaka, Kenya. Our greenest collection of hand-crafted art by the Kisii Tribesmen of Kenya. With the smallest carbon footprint of any product in our line, every stage in the making of this beautiful art involved human hands, from quarrying - bringing to surface - cutting to art size pieces - shaping - polishing etc. Kisii Stone is brought to the surface by hand from quarries that can be over 100 feet deep - the large chunks of stone are cut by axe and other hand tools at the bottom of the Quarry. The carver cuts to size, shapes and defines the stone using only basic hand tools.
