I just bought this kettle a month ago, so cannot comment on longevity. But I do not like the features. FULLSTOP! I do not like when it whistles when switched on, and especially, when it whistles when boiling done. I do not like that it tries to keep warm. When I want water boiled again, I will switch it on again! I do not need to kettle to think for me. This just makes me swear! The controls are too tiny. There are times when they change from "full boil" to "white tea", I have not figured out, when/why this happens. What I need is a smart looking kettle, that does not break down after a year (as most electric kettles do). So I keep my fingers crossed.
This was a great addition to my kitchen appliances - something I use at least once every day. The tea kettle heats water to a rolling boil, the auto shut-off feature is appreciated. Compared to my previous electric tea kettle, this handle is a little larger, and will take some getting used to.
I wasn't sure it was the correct order when I received the box, as it was in a box for a stereo! But, indeed, the tea kettle was inside in its own box. Like the picture, it lights up in blue when the kettle is turned on. And, it shuts off automatically when it gets to a full boil. Nowhere in the description does it actually say that, so I'm letting you all know. This replaced a Braun plastic electric kettle that I had for a few years and worked great. Unfortunately, the cord on that one got burned by my toaster oven, so it became unsafe. I hope this one lasts at least as long. I like the idea that it's primarily glass. Wish the cord was longer and less stiff, but I'm guessing it's for safety reasons. It's great for a quick water boil for tea or instant hot drinks. Recommended!
