After much searching, I purchased this dresser hoping that it would come close to matching Axium espresso bedroom furniture (dressers and night stands) and Norwich espresso living room furniture (coffee table and 2 end tables) that I'd purchased through Overstock in 2008. I needed another dresser for the bedroom, but the 4-drawer and 6-drawer dresser made by Axium have been discontinued. We took a chance on this piece, and the color not only matches the Axium furniture perfectly, but the hardware, while a little different, is the same color. The pieces arrived in one large box in great condition with everything we need to assemble it well-labeled. The instructions are sparse, but easy to figure out. It took me roughly 2 hours to assemble... I'm a perfectionist, so this could go faster for some, a little less so for a first-time DIY furniture maker :), but either way, TOTALLY worth the time for the great price. The finished result was FAR beyond my expectations, even though I've put together almost all the furniture I own and thought it might not hold up or last long, it's ALL still in great condition. This dresser looks no different than something you'd purchase at, for example, Pottery Barn, for 50 times the price. The biggest difference is that the backing is a study cardboard sheet that slides in, rather than wood. But I rarely keep my dressers with the drawers facing the wall, so this isn't a concern :) As far as assembly, this piece most impressed me by how easily EVERYTHING lined up. The pre-drilled holes were spot on. No trouble whatsoever getting each piece connected. After building the 5 drawers, they ALL slid into the dresser frame perfectly. They don't stick and there's not a gap or a space anywhere to indicate that I didn't purchase the dresser fully assembled. I moved it around the room a number of times to decide where I liked it best, and doing that confirmed that just minutes after building it, it holds up. I doesn't just LOOK sturdy, it actually IS incredibly sturdy. The parts didn't budge and I didn't have to tap it to get rid of little gaps that sometimes appear when you pull and push around DIY furniture. It's already packed with clothes. I especially recommend this for people who already have Axium or Norwich espresso furniture, and want something that matches. I can't spot a difference in the color at all. Also, all the hardware is internal, so there is no need for plastic screw caps on the outside of the dresser, which would diminish its polished look. I will definitely keep Furniture of America high on my list when/if we need to add pieces to our home that match what we already have. For color, price, and quality, it's the bees knees :) (TIP: Wear a glove... golf, motorcycle, or gardening gloves are some good options. Blisters are inevitable when you're putting a screwdriver to heavy use for a couple of hours. The directions tell you NOT to use power tools, and I agree. My husband kept trying to convince me to use a power screwdriver, and after a couple of attempts, found it no easier. Follow the directions, get out your Phillips head, and do it by hand. You don't want to nick the wood or over-tighten. This helps ensure that the parts line up.)
Well, it's not exactly a dresser, but it's the cutest little end table I have ever seen. It has character and charm that all fit with any decor. I have it in between two wing back chairs in the sitting area of my bedroom; WHAT a beautiful setting!! It came originally damaged but Overstock replaced immediately and at no charge. GREAT!!
As usual, the product was delivered in Excellent condition as the piece of furniture was overly packaged to ensure no damage during shipping. The dresser is exactly what I expected it would be, Quality craftsmanship!! The all hardwood hand crafted dresser is beautiful!!
