The item is magnificent yet component parts were missing from the shipment package. There were no striker place within the package therefore, should this item be rated far less?.
I was looking for mirrored doors to go in my 1950's home. This type of door does not exist at the Big Box stores which really only carry sliding doors with a very contemporary look. You can special order something similar from high-end stores but it gets pricey quick and I couldn't readily find affordable bifold doors online (kudos to Overstock for streamlined shipping times and costs). These are pine and I painted mine white to match the rest of the trim in my house. They are made of unfished pine which so far seems well constructed and could be stained but keep in mind that pine is not the most stain-friendly wood. The mirror comes covered in plastic which you have to carefully peel off but it's great for finishing the wood as it protects the glass from any paint or stain. Also, the back of the glass has a safety adhesive coating to keep the glass from shattering if it breaks. The only thing that keeps me from awarding the Excellent rating is the hardware - don't get me wrong it seems fine and is working well (just as good as what comes with the doors at the BigBox stores) but could be a little more sturdy. Like most moving parts it will need a little TLC over the years.
I love these! We have three sets of french doors on our 1860's house and decided to use these for the top bolts. We put one on each door, so had to buy a total of 6 but they look great.
