I had this bifold door hung as a French Door in my 30" opening to an office off of my living room. It worked out wonderful and looks perfect! My carpenter removed the hinges that were on when it arrived, luckily they were not cut in, and used three 3" hinges on each side to hang them with the opening in the middle. Love it!
Don't get me wrong, I love the look of my Artist Bifold door; it's beautifully made, nicely stained glass inserts, easy to install and looks fantastic. Having said this, however, the product is a pain to stain because it's constructed of pinewood. Perhaps sanding the pine to a smooth finish would have caused the wood to accept staining easier, more evenly, for a more polished appearance. Nevertheless, I didn't sand it because that is just too much pre-work (sanding and staining) to install a new door that cost more money, imho, than it is worth for a pinewood product. I would have no problem paying high end price for an oak product. I would suggest that Overstock.com and/or the manufacturer of Artist Bifold Door provide information on the type of wood that the manufacturer used to construct its Artist Bifold Door. The fact that this information is blatantly missing from the Artist Bifold Door's description shouts to me that the manufacturer is aware that no one would pay upward of $xx (including shipping) for an 80'x30' pinewood non-sanded bifold door.
