Arrived quickly and packed well with plenty of protection. Assembly is simple, as it is only screwing in the four legs, but the allen wrench they supply to do the job is a joke, and if you used it it would probably take 2 hours to screw in those 5" long bolts. A. Quarter. Turn. At. A. Time... (and your finger tips would be raw). I had some different wrenches and was able to get the job done much quicker using my own tools. As I was screwing in the first bolt I realized the holes in the legs were really too small and ended up stripping out the screw trying to get it in. I was able to back the screw out and drilled all 8 of the holes larger. Screwing in the bolts still took some elbow grease, but was able to get them all in without stripping the bolt heads. The table is a beautiful dark color and has a nice (although slightly fake looking) grain. Has a nice protective finish on the table top giving it a nice sheen, but not making it shiny. Perfect as a dining table, but would not be smooth enough to use for homework or paying bills unless you put a pad under your paper. Overall, a great value for the money. Got the two matching benches and two off-white distressed metal chairs for the ends. Makes a beautiful set!
This table is beautiful. It's finish is a flat gray black and solid wood. The top is made up of approx 1,2 and 3 inch strips of wood. The leaves are self contained and pull up from under the table from the middle. You can use one or both. I'm in love with the finish and color. I wanted a solid wood top, no veneer. This is solid and the pillar colums are beautiful. the pole and bolts add to the character. I have mixed this with a modern chandelier and upolstered chairs in 1910 home. It's stunning. Can go with rustic industrial or modern or older home, very versatile piece. Delivery was great but you have to carry it in. As long as you have two people it can be done. Will enjoy this for years to come.
I sold my old 60" square table and bought this one because I simply love round tables. However, what I love about this table is its versatility. With the flaps down, it seats four extremely comfortably at 42 inches square. Great for more intimate dinners and playing games. With the flaps up, you can comfortably seat 8. Not quite as much room as the 60" square I used to have, but because it is round, you don't have the problem of the legs getting in the way. People can move around the table more comfortably and don't have to move their chairs forward to accommodate other people at the table in my limited kitchen space. The option of leaving some of the flaps up also increases the versatility of the table if you want to butt it against a wall as a buffet. Round tables allow everyone to see each other and interact better. The lazy susan in the middle is an additional plus but is rather large in the square mode. The shelf and drawer in the middle add additional storage space and also decorative space. There is a tendency to put your feet on the shelf especially in the square mode. This table is heavy and solid. It looks well built and expensive. It has the feel of finer furniture but I am not sure how the finish will hold up without some care. It is not a typical dining table top. I use placemats on the table which are easily stored in the drawer below. There is a groove on the table which could potentially "store" food and spills but it does add to the designer look of the table. When the flaps are up, there is no give in the joint which make it feel just as solid whether up or down. The flaps also tuck under the table and are held in place with a small bracket. One negative is that the feet on the legs are not adjustable to accommodate a less then perfect floor for leveling. Overall, it is very attractive and unique, and does not look run of the mill. I did buy 8 chairs to go with this table with padded seats. I did not particularly want the chairs that are matched with the table because the seats were not padded. I bought these chairs which I thought were far more attractive than the matching chairs offered by the manufacturer: Item #: 16765462 and they were cheaper.
This farm table is VERY rustic, much more so than the picture made me believe. This was actually the reason I almost didn't purchase it. But, I'm happy I did because this is the look I was wanting. The curved, Victorian style legs juxtapose the rustic wood look. Since September, I've been looking for a table just like this one but didn't want to spend over $1000. I was upset when the same one, but a shorter version went out of stock on ****** and was elated when I found this longer one on Overstock. I bought this table when it was 10% off then I got an additional 12% with a promotional code. I haven't come across any farm tables of this caliber and size at this price. The table is a little unbalanced. But, not enough to send back. We simply added an additional pad under one of the legs. Now the search is on for chairs...I'll wait until Overstock puts their dining chairs on sale.
