Just like all of the other reviews say, this is not the quality of a $800 dining chair. But I'm super picky, and it's a very very nice chair. I'm doing Hollywood Regency style and my furnishings have to look sharp or I won't pull of the luxurious look. I was concerned about color... too light, weak, pale and sad? It's not. It is a very luxurious, medium-reflective velvet that displays a warm, deep champagne color at one angle of viewing and a lighter, yet still very rich color from another angle. It's better than I had hoped for! They are sturdy. They were easy to put together. I feel like I'm sitting in a well made chair. And I even asked about shipping rates for getting them back to Overstock in case they weren't comfortable because I've decided that my days of sitting on an uncomfortable dining chair while chatting with friends for 2 hours after dinner are over. I wasn't going to settle for anything less that very very comfortable. And guess what... SUPER comfy. Not like a sofa, but dang close! The back is well padded and a great angle. The seat is very well padded with just the right amount of support in the center. I can't say enough about how wonderful this chair is. If you are anything like me and you are concerned that it's going to be a cheap color, poorly made, probably not that comfortable chair.... rest at ease and order. I love them!!! Update after having these chairs for 3 years: Still absolutely amazing! After a couple of weeks of owning these chairs, we decided that they were a little to weighted to the back side of the chair. When pulling the chair backwards by holding the top, the chair tended to want to tilt backwards. So we affixed a couple of pieces of shorty rebar to the inside front wood panel of the chair ... underneath the seat. This took care of the problem right away and the chair is much more balanced. Without it, the chair is still fantastic. It is just a little help and a little hint to anyone willing to do this. Also, like with any velvet, water actually leaves what looks like a stain... What it really is is the drop area of Velvet laying a different direction than the rest of the fabric on the seat. Just take a damp cloth and wipe it over the entire seat and it evens out the texture. I researched extensively on how to remove water stains from velvet... And the only thing I can find that works is wetting the entire surface. Which does not damage the fabric whatsoever. Looks like new! These chairs have also been sitting directly in front of Windows that get loads of south facing sun shine... And there has been very little to no fading.
I purchased 8 of these chairs, all of which I put together by myself! After the first one it was fairly simple and quick. However, once assembled, they were difficult to level. Most of the chairs have a slight wobble to them although when an adult sits in them, it's unnoticeable. The instructions said to "drop the chair from shoulder height onto a hard surface" until the legs were leveled. It didn't really work! Despite that, the chairs are sturdy and quite comfortable and look great. The fabric is fairly stain resistant and for the cost, you can't beat it. I shopped all over for upholstered chairs with gray legs and would've had to custom order them for at least $450 each. I'm happy with these!
I chose a table which was solid wood because I wanted something that would last. This table is super heavy and very solid. The only drawback is the top of it needs an extra coating of sealant or water-resistant top. When you wipe it, it is easy to scratch or remove the finish.
Beautiful and unusual chair. Very sturdy and modern. They are a beautiful compliment to my all white dinning room table. If you are looking for a great chair that is also a conversational piece this is it. Not your typical everyday chair, definitely for the more modern decor. My only concern is the ease of maintaining it and if it is stain resistant.
