The assembled chairs are great, but buyer beware! These are five star chairs, but I did have some issues...read on. The good... - Chairs are extremely solid and sturdy and make me wonder if the 5 year extended warranty is even worth it (they don't cover normal wear and tear). They're sturdy because of its metal frame. - Great comfortable cushions, but heads up, they of course flatten over time. Still good cushions though. - They're great looking and unique dining chairs. We didn't get pair them with a metal framed table, but they still went well. - They're lighter than they seem, in my opinion. Keep this in mind... - If you're used to a chair with a straight back, this will take some getting used to because they slant back just slightly, but within a week I got used to it and it didn't matter anymore. The bad...(and kind of watch out for this)... - I ordered a pair of chairs to get a feel for if we like these chairs or not since they don't sell them in stores. One of the two chairs was a struggle to assemble because all 4 legs wouldn't stay level on the floor after we tightened all the screws. We even read the directions about how to handle a situation like this, but that did not help. The only way to make sure all four legs were flat on the ground was to leave a screw or two kind of loose, but that definitely doesn't make sense. At first, Overstock sent us a replacement part which didn't remedy the situation. They eventually sent replacement chairs. Otherwise we liked the chair, so we bought another 4 chairs to complete our set of 6. In that set of 4 chairs, we got two more "bad" chairs in which the legs would not stay flat on the ground. Overstock sent us another pair of replacement chairs. Please note though that Overstock's text messaging customer service for the most part were really awesome and accommodating and provided pretty quick shipping (but then again where they ship from is about 30 minutes from where I live). All in all, 2-3 chairs out of the 6 we ordered were defective or had defective parts because they didn't assemble well together. In some ways it makes sense because the frame isn't wood, its metal so there might not be as much consistency in the molding of each chair/parts as there would be in wood chairs. Whatever the case, it was frustrating spending all that time assembling them to find out they weren't good, then having to disassemble them so that UPS can pick them up to send them back. We got replacements and now we have 6 great chairs, but just be ready to have to possible deal with that.
I'm very happy with these chairs. We use them at our farmhouse dining table and they are quite comfortable for being a metal chair. They aren't wobbly, the metal is 'soft', as odd as that sounds. The finish on them makes them super smooth rather than thin, loud metal. They are smaller, but I knew that prior to purchasing. The measurements are accurate and they arrived like the promo picture.
More than a year ago I purchased the Wood Flynn Hairpin Dining Table from World Market and have been looking for chairs since then. These chairs are the right look for the table with the black metal, hairpin legs. I did not give this a 5-star rating for a couple reasons. The wooden chair backs are not a finished as I would like. The seat side is rough. I plan to sand them down and stain then a little darker to match the table. They are a bit lighter than they appear online. The second reason is that are a bit too short. Although they have a finished button at the bottom of each leg, I will try adding felt sliders to bring them up a quarter inch. (I know that is not enough, as my husband has already pointed out.) The chairs sit comfortably and I like them overall.
