  • Terrible quality.

Couch is not very deep and the cushions are hard. These things I can get over because the couch is cute. However, the frame of this couch sucks. We have had it not even a year and the supports in the middle are cracked and sagging. We don't have children and we are gentle on furniture, this couch just won't hold up if you plan to use it every day.

  • Too Small, Too Hard Sofa
    Verified Purchase

We purchased this sofa for a small apartment. We read all the reviews. We had some concerns on the comfort. I am not a big person. About 5'3 and 115 pounds and I barely fit on the sofa. The depth is simply too short. Plus the cushions are extremely hard. It looks nice in the room, but that is about it. If this is your main seating or you spend a lot of time on the sofa or are bigger than a child, this sofa is not comfortable. It is like sitting on a stack of phone books. I wanted to like it, but sadly we will be returning it.

  • Detroit sofa

Very happy with purchase, quick delivery, easy to handle. Fabric is of nice quality, looks much more expensive than the cost. Cushion is firm, but became softer after weeks, still comfy.

This couch is slightly smaller than expected. It is also EXTREMELY hard. We had to return it because it is so uncomfortable.

  • Beauty

Beautiful sofa, and we love the color as well as the fabric. Good quality built, easy to move and was delivered within a week. The cushions are removable, both the back and the seat. They are firm but not hard, so I like the good support for my bad back. We love this sofa, and everything came as expected, so we are very happy with it.

  • First Helpful Review: Detroit Sofa by Gold Sparrow

There are a few places where this sofa may be a good fit, unfortunately your living room is probably not one of them. I'll start with the "good news" first: this sofa is not very deep, so if you have a particularly narrow room or office, this may be a good bet. I was also able to lay down lengthwise on the couch without a problem. The materials are not bad, but no one will mistake this couch for anything approaching expensive. Now onto the "bad news." Quick, sit on the edge of your chair: you're now experiencing the approximate seating depth of the Detroit Ash Sofa by Gold Sparrow. I measured the effective depth of the seat with the back cushions in place: it's 18 inches. I'm not that tall (about 5'9"), and this couch ends well before my thighs. The couch also sits pretty low, I was expecting something a little more substantial. The bottom of the cushions are covered in black backing fabric, so you can't flip the cushions over, but they're movable so you can switch them around. I read the other reviews of this series of couches, and they're mostly positive. I'm left scratching my head about how someone could consider this couch to be as comfortable or "soft" as others have noted. It's not that comfortable, and I'm feeling very disappointed with this purchase, and wondering how long I can put up with this couch in my living room. I'll update this review with observations about longer term comfort and reliability. When it comes to buying furniture online, caveat emptor.
