I couldn't wait for this desk to arrive. I wasn't prepared when I began emptying the box and piece after piece came out along with three plastic bags of screws, wooden dowels, and assorted items including glue. Overall, I like the desk but it was a pain to assemble and I might not have purchased it if I had known what was involved.
This is just what I've been wanting. I ordered the desk and two side tables. The overall espresso color, tasteful black trim on drawer, clean lines and solid wood complement traditional, contemporary, asian, eclectic, even southwestern decor. Well packaged, everything survived an accidental drop and tumble by the delivery man. The instructions were clearly written and clearly illustrated, requiring my own rubber mallet, Phillips screwdriver (I used hitachi rechargeable) and 4 mm hex wrench (I preferred flat head screwdriver for the cam locks). I allowed one full relaxed day to assemble the 3 items, spreading out on the packing materials. I did it all alone (one capable lady!) but instructions recommended one-two people. My husband was impressed that I did it all myself, because the furniture is heavy. Everything fit as planned, the drawers slide like silk on fine hardware. I cannot imagine assembling this without the power screwdriver or a quality rubber mallet. Nearly all pieces are solid wood (unseen parts of the drawers are pressed wood). I'll be looking for more pieces in the Talisman line. Highly recommended.
This desk is a bit flimsy and the directions for putting it together rediculous. Once together, the mouse pad is too low for me but the overall height of the desk is good. It will do what I need it to do, with some jury-rigging, and I'd recommend it depending upon what a person is looking for.
