I wanted a desk to fit between 2 black XXXX bookcases. The problem was it had to black and could only be 30 inches wide. Score and score. I think the directions were clearly written and all pieces, large and small were clearly identified. At one point I needed a second person but that was only because of the weight of the partially assembled desk.Paired it with a black and white upholstered chair on clearance from XXXXX XXXXX. Perfect.
I was looking for not expensive, but more modern desk-as interior designer at our office-i wanted make place up to date (Grey is in by the way !), I purchased 3 deck for our small office & very happy, the space is 3 3/4"from bottom of the table space (& its open to the wall o you can run cords , smaller opening above 2 draws 4"-enough to put several books or files or phone book,,its dose not have holes predrilled for cords-but i don't think they needed -as back is opened I was worry at first it was only 24" deep (inited our old desks 30") even considered to come up with Idea add the shelve( but turnes it was plenty of space & less to litter) -i liked color & design to much -to stop me from purchasing them, i think all line by this company with that weathered Great -is spectacular( was looking to buy couple bookshelves to finish the look), all that drab cherry or boring white or brown desk-who want to go to work to offices like that. Its seems sturdy enough, if move it -don't pick up by the top-grab where draw opening( as its heavy part & may loosen up screws) the top is hallow-( but its only if you knocking on wood to often : ) pretty good info how to put together( & i put together plenty of displaces for the store), yes each draw have bunch of screws for sliders & etc.-but all manageable.
The first desk I received somehow missed quality control. Overstocks very responsibly handled the situation, sending me another desk that was in excellent condition. All desks are 30 inches high unless you buy an ergonomic one. (Too functional for me). I plan on using a laptop to write a book and needed the proper typing height (which isn;t 30 inches high). This desk, however, has a wide drawer (with a back and sides) which can also be used as a typing shelf--deep enough for a laptop. The front part of the drawer swings down for laptop use and at the back of the drawer there's a semi-cirlcular small opening for a cord to pass through. Many pull-out shelves can only accommodate a keyboard and cannot also double as a drawer. So this is really a nifty desk, not too small and not too big. The top is made from birch and the bottom from poplar. ( I called the company for this information). It also comes in other woods and finishes..
