I really like the daybed we purchased. It's a good size and actually bigger than a standard twin so comfortable. I also bought the recommended Twin XL mattresses and they fit great. Would definitely recommend but the overall footprint is much bigger than you would think so check measurements!

Loved the look on website and was super pleased to see the quality in person as well. I bought cool gel mattresses from Walmart on line and these beds are so comfortable- even with visitor's with bad backs love the comfort and support. Great buy. But warning is it bigger than you expect and heavier too!

    • Daybed Review
      Verified Purchase

I ordered the trundle version after reading previous reviews. It arrives in three boxes. I put this product together myself in less than two hours. I had my husband tighten all joints with a drill afterwards. I bought a XXX mattress from Mattress Firm that dropped right in the top bed. Because of previous reviews, I thought fitting the bottom mattress would be a challenge so I didn't buy one for the bottom YET. The mattress I bought for the top dropped right into the bottom slot with no problem. The only issue is, it is ten 1/2 inches thick and I must lift the couch slightly to slide the bottom back with this thick mattress. I'm a sixty-year old woman and it was no problem. I planned to buy a thinner mattress for the bottom but my husband said no. He feels the slight inconvenience of lifting the couch 1" off the floor to pull the trundle in and out is worth it to have our guests (who come two week a year) comfortable. (A 9" mattress would slide easily) My only complaint about this product is the linen had a couple of snags. DON'T CUT THEM OFF. I used a small needle and poked them back into the stitching. They are now invisible. I searched the city of Albuquerque and all the daybed trundles were either metal or wood. This had the modern look I was seeking. I have no regrets on purchasing this product.

    • Cute but HUGE
      Verified Purchase

I purchased this daybed to use in our guest room which is small and this bed is HUGE!! It's a beautiful piece though. A couple of things to note though, a normal twin is too small. There are several inches on the end of the mattress. You need at least a 10 in thick mattress to cover the gap in the back. With an 8" mattress, a child would fall through. Pillows will hide the gap, but it's not safe for sleeping - I recommend putting children on the trundle. The trundle slides easily even on carpet and slides completely away from the top bed. It can be placed on the other side of the room. When pushed under the bed, it fits perfectly. So far, we love it!

    • Fantastic daybed.
      Verified Purchase

Very stylish, heavy and well constructed. You will need a XL twin mattress for both. 10" thick or more for top and 8" thick for trundle. I bought the memory foam ones. Great extra beds for company. Thinking out buying another for lake house. So much better than bunks.

    • Great piece for the price
      Verified Purchase

Once assembled, all the exterior parts look great. Very comfortable and the color is nice and unassuming that goes with almost anything. The trundle can fit a mattress or just extra storage. Some of the construction materials are a little "thrifty" but they are fine where it counts. It's an excellent product for the price point, and nice to find a daybed that gives the warmth of cloth.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"What size depth of bed required for the trundle? 8 inches"

      • A:

We recommend using a mattress 10 inches thick or less in the trundle.

    • Q:

"I ordered the grey lined daybed and I've been looking all over for a daybed mattress cover that will match or look good with it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does the daybed manufacturer sell them?"

      • A:

We are actually looking for nice covers ourselves. I'm sure there's items online. Just search for Twin futon mattress covers.

      • A:

I will say you don't need a daybed cover because the couch look is quite nice. You can find a light comforter in a grey and white trellis print, spread it on smoothly and a bunch of throw pillows to accent it and it rocks!

      • A:

I got a twin xl mattress with my daybed, and I bought a twin xl sheet set for it. The fitted sheet works great on the mattress and makes it look more like a couch!

    • Q:

      "Are the mattresses included???"

      • A:

No - you buy them separately.

      • A:

No, you need to buy one regular and one super size.

      • A:

No. The mattress is not included

    • Q:

"What is the height of the daybed seat before you put a mattress on it?"

      • A:

I'd say roughly 14inches, but it has already been relegated to the trash pile in under a year. Would not choose again for any regular use.

    • Q:

"please help some people say to get a twin xl for bottom and top some say twin for bottom only and how thick should the bottom mattress be some say 8in some say 10 in what to do love the bed befor I buy it what should I do any help would be greatful for thank you"

      • A:

Hi! I say get a twin for the bottom and XL twin for the top.

      • A:

Yes, twin for bottom, xl twin for top fit for me.

      • A:

I would go for regular twin on the bottom. Our twin Xl on the bottom is a TIGHT squeeze. definitely use twin XL on the top. I would go with 8 in on the bottom.

    • Q:

"I had purchased this product around 6 months back and I really like it so far. But the wooden bars which support the bed doesn't feel very strong and at the edge support is missing. So I am trying to get a cardboard to use as an additional support. I am not able to find one so far. Do you have any solution for this?"

      • A:

Wasn't a problem for me the slats were plentiful and sturdy enough for what I use it for guest

    • Q:

"The recommended mattress size for the top of the bed is a Twin XL, 78" long. However, all of the Twin XL mattresses I have found are 80" long. I measured my assembled bed it comes up as 78" so have concerns about buying a standard 80" Twin XL mattress. Does anyone have any feedback on the length of their Twin XL mattress and how it fit?"

      • A:

I had no problem fitting the twin XL mattress in the frame - but I would advise going to at least an 11 inch thickness. I purchased a 10 inch and there is a visible gap between the backboard and the mattress. I can hide it with pillows, but I wish I had gotten a bigger one.

      • A:

I have an 11 inch twin XL mattress which is tight but not oversized so works for me.

      • A:

The Twin XL mattress works great. We have several extra sheet sets for queen size beds so we tried one before buying sheets for it. The queen sheets work just fine so no need to buy the expensive and hard to find Twin XL sheets. This day bed is in my husband's office and we rarely have to use it for a guest room. I would say the bed frame itself isn't sturdy enough for every day use.

      • A:

I purchased a twin XL foam mattress so the fit is snug but there is a lot of give with foam mattress. This mattress does not fit the trundle bed so I am still looking for a mattress for that. From my measurements the trundle will fit a regular twin mattress.

      • A:

Thanks for all of your responses. What I'm struggling with is that every Twin XL mattress that I have looked at is 80" instead of the actual size needed as measured. The Twin fits perfectly in the trundle, but I'd be very interested to know where folks are finding a 78" Twin XL so that I can get one. The Twins are too small for the top of the bed, so I definitely need the XL. Thanks!

    • Q:

"Can the cushion be bought for this daybed? What is the size?"

      • A:

You will have to buy a twin XL mattress for the daybed. Make sure it is al least 9 or 10 inches deep. If not there will be a huge gap between the mattress top and the backrest.

      • A:

I bought a twin XL for the top. It fits perfectly. I also used some plywood wrapped in batting and a sheet to evenly support the mattress.

      • A:

I bought my cushions at ***..i paid $*** for each twin and they fit perfectly

    • Q:

"What is the weight limit for this bed?"

      • A:

Unfortunately we do not test the weight limitations for products here at Overstock.

      • A:

Easily holds 350 lbs on main bed, not sure about trundle limit but we have had over 250 lbs sleeping on it successfully. Really nice daybed, solid construction. We added a covered piece of plywood under the mattresses for added support, but that's because we didn't purchase great mattresses.

    • Q:

"I'd like the dark grey with the trundle, but do not see this as an option. Also, both the daybed & the trundle can accommodate a twin xl mattress?"

      • A:

The available daybeds in stock can be found under options. The daybed and trundle accommodate a standard twin size mattress.

      • A:

I think the stock photo is supposed to be the dark gray but it is a little darker. I use twin XL mattresses and they fit great - I only wish I had thicker mattresses like other reviewers suggest for the top part. The trundle can only accommodate and standard twin XL

    • Q:

"do I have the option of not screwing in the backboard? Will it look like it was supposed to be without the backboard if that side was up against a wall? Will it still be sturdy if I didn't used the backboard?"

      • A:

We do not recommend using this daybed without the backboard.

    • Q:

"Is it easy to put together? I am somewhat of a damsel in distress "

      • A:

        Yes, very easy.

    • Q:

"so there is no cushion at all on this?"

      • A:

There is none cushion on this item.

    • Q:

"What is the maximum height of the mattress you can use for the trundle bed?"

      • A:

I wouldn't go any larger than an eight inch mattress for the trundle. Any deeper and you will have problems pulling the trundle out and of course pushing it back into place.

      • A:

I used a Twin XL for the top and a regular twin for the trundle

      • A:

We recommend using a mattress 10 inches thick or less for the trundle.

      • A:

Bought an 8 inch mattress and put a foam topper on top. It's a great daybed I was truly surprised!

    • Q:

"Just built my INSPIRE Q Deco Linen Rolled Arm Daybed and Trundle and ordered a twin XL mattress as stated and the reviews indicate. For the heck of it I just measured the width for the upper mattress. It seems to measure 76" maybe 77" at most. Doesn't seem the twin XL i ordered will fit. DO I have the measurement wrong? Thank you"

      • A:

This bed has an internal mattress opening of 78 inches. An XL twin mattress seems to fit best, because it doesn't leave a gap. A twin size mattress would leave a gap of about 3 inches.

    • Q:

"Does the trundle lift up to match the same height as the bed?"

      • A:

        No it doesn't

    • Q:

"Is a twin XL the same as a full size mattress?"

      • A:

        No it is just longer

    • Q:

"We are waiting on this daybed to arrive but in the meantime I need to purchase a mattress. I would prefer to buy a twin as there are so many more bedding options available compared to purchasing the twin xl. My question is will a regular twin size mattress work or will it be too small? Thank you!"

      • A:

While most customers prefer to use a twin XL with the INSPIRE Q Deco Linen Rolled Arm Daybed, you can use a twin size if you prefer.

      • A:

A XL Twin is 4 inches longer than a regular twin. The XL fits the frame perfectly without having to force or squeeze the mattress into the frame. You could put regular-twin sized mattress on it, but you will have a gap of a little over two inches on either side. You could push the twin sized mattress flush against one side and fill the four-inch gap at the other end with pillows, but be aware that it will be a noticeable difference. Even though the sheet options were limited, I'm glad I opted for the longer mattress. XL Twin sheets are easiest to find in August and September when college students go back to school as the XL Twin mattress is fairly common in dorm rooms. As a side note, make sure that which ever length mattress, you get one that is fairly deep. The ten-inch mattress I bought to go in this shows a little gap in the back where the back of the daybed doesn't drop all the way down to the base of the bed frame.

      • A:

If you use a regular twin it will be too short. You'll have a gap of about 4 to 6 inches at the end.

    • Q:

"What is the height from floor to top of mattress?"

      • A:

The mattress sits about 18 inches from the ground on this daybed.

      • A:

I had to purchase a 10 inch mattress to cover the open area in the back. With a 10 inch mattress from floor to top of mattress is 29 inches.

    • Q:

"How heavy is the bed without the trundle? We have to get it upstairs so we didn't want anything too heavy."

      • A:

I just put it together in the room upstairs where it would be used so I could do it by myself. The trundle just slides underneath; not connected, so it's easy to move. The bed isn't too heavy, but awkward.

      • A:

This bed without the trundle ships in two boxes. The first weighs about 57.6 pounds, and the second 57.2 pounds.
