    • Missing Parts
      Verified Purchase

We ordered this bed, and it came in a speedy amount of time;nonetheless, it was missing a key item: the slats on the bottom of the bed to hold the mattress in place. So, we thought it would be easy enough to merely request these missing parts through overstock, and through the company itself. The company denied us the parts! Such poor communication in the process too! So, after having assembled it, we had to pack it all up, and return it! So frustrating.

    • Great bed, and a few things you should know.
      Verified Purchase

We recently ordered this bed for our two year old. The fact that it has two adjustable heights appealed to me because I could save money and NOT buy a box spring AND could put storage boxes underneath. Arrived in good condition; NO missing parts. Very easy to assemble, although I got stuck at step one (you can SKIP that step because you're going to have to take those bolts right back out, I was stuck because I seriously thought I was doing something wrong). Aside from that hiccup, the rest was a breeze, even with a two year old "helping." You don't even need any of your own tools :) The overall quality is decent. This isn't a heavy, solid iron bed; the tubes are hollow with SOME gaps around places the bars connect. Still though, it seems sturdy enough to last through our toddler. On the bright side, hollow tubes will make it easier to move/clean under. The metal has a slightly hammered finish as well. Now something that will matter to at least one other person than myself out there: there are supports under the bed, so if you plan on having boxes under there, they musn't be too wide. Because going to get exact measurements at this hour would wake my little girl and trigger WW3 in my household, a good rule of thumb would be to divide the bed lengthwise into quarters and to not get boxes larger than the quarters, IF you must get them ahead of time. I'm speaking from experience so that you do not have to go quietly curse in the corner as I did because your boxes won't fit and you lost the receipt, while your toddler jumps enthusiastically on her new bed.

    • Poor Quality Control at Manufacturing Level
      Verified Purchase

I ordered two DHP Brooklyn Iron Twin-size Beds in white. The size (low to the ground), traditional styling, and color (soft white, rather than bright white or ivory) are perfect for my 2 and 5 y/o daughters' room. I kept the beds, but there are several problems that even at this low price-point I did not expect. 1. Both beds arrived with numerous chips in the paint. Because most chips were at joints, it was obvious the damage occurred during manufacturing, rather than during shipping. Furniture with such damage should NEVER be shipped from the factory to the consumer. (I used craft paint and a small brush to hide the most prominent chips, which took several coats.) 2. Once assembled, the metal slats are loose in their slots. Although probably safe, the slats rattle every time you move on the mattress. I had to reassemble the slats with thin piece of rubber (the nonslip stuff used as drawer-liner) for a snug, not-noisy fit. 3. This bed is marketed for children, but it comes with a warning that it is not for use by children under the age of 6. If so, this should not be marketed a child's bed! (Neither of my kids are old enough to sleep in their beds per this warning, but we don't have another choice.) I contacted DHP customer service about the damage on the bed frames. After a lengthy process requiring photographs of the damage, DHP did NOT provide replacement products. Instead, they gave me a $20 credit to a major online retailer (but it wasn't even to Overstock, where I purchased the beds). To any potential buyer: either buy this with the knowledge that it will likely require repairs to damaged paint, or spend more on a higher quality product from a different company.

I am terribly disappointed in returning an item that shipped for free, but then being charged to return it. I guess I should have read the small print. I will not be ordering anything again from this site. After I hastedly ordered this bed, which sat in my way, for a few days while my daughter was in the hospital, I decided this would not be the right bed for her. I thought if I didn't open it and returned it promptly, I would get a full refund. That's what I get for thinking!!!!!

I can't say enough about these beds. We ordered 2 for my toddlers bedroom. They remind me of those awesome beds in our grandparents homes when we were kids. They give my boys room a vintage feel and looks awesome. I have 2 in the room with a small bookcase in the middle. Precious precious precious!

I do not recommend. While they look cute, they are poorly made. The paint easily scratches off and they are extremely wobbly, even after tightening.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"I suggested this bed to my niece for her 3-1/2 year old daughter who is still in her crib. I believe she ordered it. My niece is very busy and I frequently do her online shopping for her. I am beyond disappointed and annoyed, as I did NOT comparison shop for this product. I now see that it is available at **** ($****), ****and **** for considerably less $!!!! And they all provide free shipping! We go to Overstock as one of our first sources as we've gotten so many excellent products from you, including rugs and the most recent purchase, a dining room table and chairs. I would think that the difference in price would be credited for such good customers? Very disappointed and this is the last time that I won't comparison shop!"

    • Q:

"Can you fit a trundle underneath?"

      • A:

Hello darien8, it depends on the height of the trundle you choose and the thickness of the mattress you put on it. This bed frame can be adjusted so that there is a clearance under the bed of either 7 or 11 inches. As long as the trundle and mattress combined do not exceed 11 inches, it will fit underneath this frame. Have a great day!

      • A:

When I put this bed together, I added the extra legs under the bed, so obviously, a trundle will not fit if you follow the instructions for legs.
