After Cook's Illustrated reviewed cutting boards in fall 2014, the J.K. Adams board with the trench and groove was sold out, or only available at double the usual price. I found this one, and it seems almost the same. Great quality wood, nicely designed, has a trench for a roast on one side which makes carving easier. It's large, so it's best for serious carving, not prepping vegetables.
I specifically ordered this meat carving board because of the channels, tree, and well for capturing meat juices for my daughter-in-law, after having to carve a Thanksgiving turkey on a plastic board with a towel under it to catch the juices. This one is beautiful maple wood, and nicer that the Dansk oldie I have and love. She is thrilled with it, and I know she will enjoy many holiday/party dinners using it.
I have a lot of cutting boards, including a large wood board with thej juice reservoir. Unfortunately, my board I had for a while, although large, could not handle a tri-tip roast without the juices running off the board. This board was perfect. It held all the juices and had a great reservoir in the end to scoop out juices with a spoon. My husband was thrilled!
