I really liked the color of the curtains, I got the grey ones.
The color was just as it looked in the picture.
The only thing is that I was expecting them to have plastic behind the fabric since they are thermal, but they don't.
The fabric is a thick fabric, so it does black out the room.
These curtains REALLY do block the light. It looks like midnight in my room at noon and I love it! If I worked a night shift and had to sleep during the day, these curtains would be PERFECT for me to sleep well, like it was night. I love the change in my room! Cool, dark, and cozy!
A great value! these curtains were so much nicer than I would have expected. The fabric feels like microfiber, instead of the hotel type that has a rubbery backing on it, and it drapes beautifully. The back tabs make it easier to pull the drapes open or closed, rather than the rod pocket--but you have the choice of either of them. I chose the natural beige, which is very neutral in color. I was afraid it would clash with the cream trim in the bedroom, but it doesn't somehow. It does take a little patience to iron out the packaging wrinkles, if that matters to you. The fact that they are machine washable and dryable is a BIG plus! They are also wide enough so that I was able to use one panel on each window (they come in pairs) and drape it to the side. Tiebacks are included, although it does not specifically state that in the ad. Overall, I am very pleased.
These are gorgeous in person. I purchased the pea coat blue, and its a beautiful almost navy color. High quality fabric, does not feel like the "shower curtain" feel of many black out blinds. Nearly completely blocks color from our south facing windows. Our window was 70" wide, and we only needed 1 panel pair to cover. I bought 2, but will be returning second box because I don't need it. The fabric is a soft sateen that the wrinkles just fell out of when I hung them up. These feel like Pier-* or ******-Barn quality but for a much more affordable price! Super impressed with these.
I bought these for a temporary drape. They were so inexpensive I thought they would a poor quality but needed something for my Windows right away. Turns out that these are very nice. Much better quality than originally thought. I think they will be permanent.
I was surprised the lighter color panels did not make the room as dark as I wanted. The darker color shades of the same fabric proved to be much darker. I have used many types of blackout drapes in light colors and they were very dark, the lighter ones in this group are not as dark.
Absolutely perfect curtains! Blocks all of the sunlight in our room and really helps keep it cool from the heat of the afternoon sun. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much cooler our room was in the afternoon. My husband in a doctor and he works many night shifts. He needed the curtains to block the light so he could sleep during the day, and as an added bonus they have kept the room almost 10 degrees cooler as well! The Navy color is crisp and exactly the color shown online. I had purchased two other nave blackout curtain brands only to return them as they were such poor quality! These however, are so well made and they have an elegant tailored look. They are lined but not too stiff and very easy to hang. I'm actually purchasing more for the rest of our house because I'm so happy with their quality and they just look fabulous.
We got these along with the darkening rod that curves, so NO light comes through at all which is great since our neighbors have a motion detector light that is super bright. In the past it would still come through the cracks on the sides and then also you could sense as the old curtains would "light up". With these we never even notice the neighbors spotlight.
The good news is that these curtains are just about what the description offers. They are petroleum-based fabric that serves its darkening and insulating purposes well and even looks good enough. But they certainly offer no glamour or upgrading. In fact, one of their virtues is that they seem to recede into the background of the room. If I remember to pull them, the following morning the room is less chilly than if I do not. I like that.
I will say that if I wanted badly enough to keep things warm or dark, I would buy two sets and have them hang more loosely. As it is, I am covering 86 inches of window with 84 inches of curtain and getting an acceptable minimum of return.
Two other notes. The grommets are good and large making it easy to open or close the curtains with little effort. And, the olive color I ordered was much as shown and is not garish or cheap looking. I'm satisfied all 'round with this purchase including the rapid shipping and condition of the curtains on receipt.
These curtains were such a great price & completed our bedroom. After a year of owning our home we finally bought these curtains and they're romantic, soft and are very darkening - even the hubby enjoys how cozy they made the room feel!
The curtains are of a smooth, silk material. They look beautiful over my patio doors & fit the standard sized patio doors perfectly! I didn't have to hem them! The rod was already in place from the last owner. The venetian blinds are installed inside the glass so I can block out the sun. Closing the curtains on top of that, has kept my house nice & cool!
I read the reviews before I purchased. Many reviews said how elegant and beautiful these curtains were. I ordered EIGHT sets! The sheer cover had a slight smell when opened. I washed these curtains on hand wash cycle and threw them in the dryer low heat. The inner color curtain
panel came out of the dryer nearly wrinkle free! So did the sheer curtains! The grommets are sliver. I hung them all up and they are exactly what you see in the picture!
It does look elegant!! A very very good buy! If you are looking at them and considering buying, don't hesitate, BUY THEM! You will not be disappointed! Oh! And where the curtains fold at the top, where the grommets are, they pleat perfectly!
I am in the process of decorating my new home. I have a scheme of taupe, grey, white, dark brown, and light yellow. I was disappointed in my options to pull in these colors until I found these curtains. The cost (which is a great value) is well worth it. When you hold them they feel heavy; very thick and solid. They are oh so very soft, and seem to be a very wrinkle-free material (which I LOVE in a curtain). As a heads up, they are very true to color from the picture, depending on your computer screen, but do realize there is a slight hue of blue in the gray. My gray is a blue-hued gray, so it works perfect, but just make sure your grays match! They are noise-reducing; great for a room with little fabric (very acoustic rooms), they regulate temperature (insulate), are machine washable, and room darkening. They feel like great quality. I would highly recommend these to anyone interested!
These drapes are certainly NOT white - more of a light linen shade, which fortunately worked in my space. Had I seen them in a store I would not have purchased them - but ultimately, they look great in my room. I wouldn't call them 'blackout", but more room-darkening.
If you are looking for a WHITE curtain, this is not it, but if you can use an off-white this may work.
I'm so happy with these blackout curtains! I ordered 2 sets for a large double wide window measuring 80" wide and hung them on a rod with matching clip-on rings, (also from Overstock,) that I extended to 106" wide. This creates the illusion of a much wider window and allows me to pull the curtains open and have the bulk of the fabric on either side without blocking the view. When the curtains are pulled closed there is still plenty of material to create soft folds across the window. This blocks about 95% of the light through this east-facing window.I bought the gray which is more of a blue-gray, as another reviewer mentioned. It works beautifully with my soft gray carpet even though there is no blue tone to the carpet color. The curtain fabric is the same color on both sides and has a somewhat heavy, yet soft, silky texture that drapes beautifully. I was surprised that the thread used was white, not gray, and the hem is just straight stitched, not a more hidden hem-stitch that I would have used if I made them myself. I thought that was going to be pretty noticeable but frankly, now that they are hung, it doesn't bother me enough to complain. I ironed them before hanging them, although they weren't overly wrinkled. Overall, the look is beautiful, they block the light effectively and I would definately buy them again at this great price.
This curtain panel is wonderfully thick and heavy. It's very luxurious and plush velvet. There are hidden tabs on the back of the curtain panel if you want to hang it that way, or you can do the pocket route, which is also included. I did rings. The rings were a little more tricky because of the hidden tabs made those areas of velvet extremely thick. There are even weights in the bottom. Very plush and high quality.
My one complaint is that the curtains aren't as white as they appear in the photo. The photo shows them fairly white, against a white wall and basically matching that wall. That is not accurate. If you look at the curtains that are color "eggnog" on this site, it's fairly comparable to those. More cream/ivory/eggnog in color. The description says "off white" but the photo says "more white than not." Pay attention to the description, not the photo, and instead look at an ivory or eggnog panel for a more accurate color depiction.
They're fantastic drapes and they look so elegant and luxurious in my guest room. They also really do a great job as blackout curtains as well. I may get more for the rest of my place. I got them quickly and everything about them is great.
It was a tough choice between a 3 or 4 star rating on these curtains. The positives are: good room darkening, rich looking fabric, strong fabric, nice pleats, 3” hem, good weight for hanging effect. Cons: fabric gets pulls easily, panel lengths vary by 1-2 inches, tough getting wrinkles out. It is recommended that you order more panels to over your window than you think. It is so true. I had to place a second order to get 2 more panels to cover my patio sliders. I needed 4-1/2 panels to cover 126 inches. Hope this review helped.
I was very pleasantly surprised with these curtain panels! (I purchased the Chocolate color) Some reviewers said they weren't pleased with the fabric, and it attracted pet hair... which was a concern of mine with my very furry pup! Please know that the fabric is thick, doesn't look cheap, and does NOT attract pet hair. I think they hang nicely, and REALLY keep the cold out, and the heat in... it was a very obvious improvement while sleeping next to a drafty window!
I can't recommend these enough. They arrived super-quick, and the price is wonderful for high-quality drapery panels... and yes they do make the bedroom nice and dark! :)
These are very well made drapes with rod casing and back tab options and weights in the hem. I was impressed! They do a great job of blocking light. I gave them only 4 stars because the pattern is much larger than the image shows in the picture and the design is printed, rather than woven, onto polyester that feels slick. The background color is also a bit off. It's more of a bluish white than the cream my computer showed it to be in the pictures. My bedroom where I have hung them is quite small. These are best for a larger room. I haven't decided if I'll keep them.
The weave of these curtains is textured but with a smooth and slightly shiny thread or finish, allowing it to match not only its own color but closely adjacent shades. Also, the facing to the outside window is a good white, a true white without being blinding when viewed from outside. The fabric itself is definitely able to black out, but if you don't cover the sides of the window or the top with some decent overlap, it can still show daylight. Not the fault of these curtains, but be sure to choose generously, hang a foot above the window and let it fall at least a foot below, and you probably want to get enough panels to have 1.5 to 2 times the width of the window, at least.
I bought 4 of these panels for my family room and just purchased an additional four panels for my dining room. Both rooms are a slate blue/greyish color and the off white curtains look great with our decor. They ironed out nicely and I hung from the backtabs. They are about .5" off the floor where my previous 84" drapes pooled slightly. Beautiful color and texture and quality. Dresses up a room without making it stuffy.
First , I would like to say that any drapes that can stand up to being washed in my old ****** is definitely a plus in my book. Though they may not look it, these drapes are very durable. I have no way of measuring the "Thermal" feature but, the "Blackout" feature works great in a south side sunny family room when I want to watch TV. My rod system is set up to use pinch-pleated drapes but, even though these drapes are designed for "rod pocket" and "back tab" installation, they will take the "Pinch-Pleated" installation pins and work without an issue. Not even wrinkles. The 72" high by 104" width (52" panel pair) works very well on my 78" wide window. They are unlined so they are really light weight.
I have ordered smaller window drapes from Overstock.Com in the past. My house windows are now 60% covered in drapes from Overstock.com. They offer a much better price than ** ****** or ******* ****** ****** and ship much sooner than either one of those companies. I feel I got more value for my dollars in these drapes from Overstock.com.
If you don't need expensive custom made drapes, the choice of colors falls within your color scheme and the size looks good (no shrinking), give these drapes a try. Overstock.com also offers a very customer oriented customer service. Kudos
I bought 3 of these for my granddaughter's new "big girl" room and, WOW!, were we impressed!!! I'm a careful shopper - knew what I wanted to get her, read the reviews, made sure it was OK with her parents, and then ordered them. First, the fabric is amazing - VERY HIGH QUALITY! (I worked in a textile market at one time and know enough about fabrics to speak intelligently on the subject.) The granddaughter's new room is in the front of their home and has windows facing the south and west so I knew they needed something that was going to be insulating and block the sun - these fit the bill perfectly. They look so nice hanging and everyone that has seen them has commented on them in a positive way. I've got to tell you I truly wish there were more colors available because I'm seriously considering buying more for use in my own home!!!
These curtains are so beautiful and I couldn't be happier with them. They added elegance and visual interest to my bedroom and the lace at the top is so pretty! They are perfect and so unusual. Throw them in the dryer for a few minutes to get the wrinkles out, hang them and enjoy!
I bought these for insulation from drafts and noise and to keep out the mirning sun and light from street lamps. These drapes are so soft and pliable I wish they were a blanket. I bought two panels to cover a double oversized window. Due to the size of these drapes you will need a sturdy rod (1.5
Ladies...did a lot or research online. My home sits east and west and I don't have to tell you how hard it is to keep a house cool in the summer time. First I bought some window tinting thinking that is all that I would need to do. Well, it worked some but the evening sun still came blazing through my front windows and my AC still was still cycling all the time. Found these curtains and decided to just make the purchase as I could just send them back if they did not perform well.
The windows in our home are very high with those half moon shaped ones at the top. That is a long long curtain to cover those. Purchased four set in the burgandy. Hung all for with just enough length to cover the half moon windows! On the front door, there are side lights and a half moon window. Just did some trimmiing, and with a little ingenuity of velcro the curtains are hanging perfectly.
With the window film and the curtains I believe that the heat coming in and been dampened drastically as the AC is not running all the time and I set it to 78 degrees.
I may have went above and beyond and they curtains should do the trick by themselves. They look great and are very soft and thick. When closed there is no light eminating through them. When I hang curtains I taken them all the way up to the ceiling if there is enough as It gives the illusion that the windows are taller than they really are and further out on the sides to really give good coverage and prevent no light leaks.
Would definitely purchase these curtains again. Give them a try.
I bought these panels in silver to match a light gray and yellow bedroom decor. When I hung them, they looked pale blue because my walls are pale yellow. If the walls were white or gray, I believe the color would have looked silver. I am returning them and have purchased the charcoal color. However, the panels themselves were very nice, especially for the money. I bought blackout panels not to darken the room, but because I wanted a lined drape. When I received the panels, I put them in the dryer on low for about five minutes and most of the creases fell out. Left hanging for a few days, they will be fine. For blackout drapes, I felt they were not that stiff (I have others in another room). As with most blackout drapes, you will also need blinds if you want the room totally dark. Also, you can buy blackout drape "liners" to add to the opacity. Also make sure you hang them high enough so that light does not show through the grommet rings. Because these are faux silk, there is a slight shimmer which adds a lot of class to my bedroom. I found them to be true to the measurements listed and they were all the same length. They are 37" wide, so as always to make the drapes full, you will need two to three times the width of the window. I bought four panels per window. At this price, I could afford to make them really full. I can't wait to get them in charcoal. I love these panels
The off white color looks almost creamy, it's not a shockingly white color. It looks great against my light grey walls and white molding. I was unsure of a velvet curtain but it's very elegant. Love them and am ordering more for my dining rom.
These are really wide! I know this is in the description- but they are really wide! They work well in a room with a wall of windows or oversize windows- but I think one curtain is too much using them for regular size windows (because there is no split). There is a seam down the middle too- which I found to "informal" for a formal room. The other downfall- these are heavy, it is difficult to hang them with hooks (as it appears on overstock) and get the "effect" as shown here- the curtain header is not reinforced- so the weight of the curtain pulls the hooks. I ended up using the pole sleeve- which doesn't give the effect I wanted- but the curtains are plush, blockout and reduce drafts (meets the goal). Function with a bit of form here! I used 3 on a wall of windows- my family says the room feels like a movie theater! Very cozy.
These drapes are very white with a cotton lining in back which provides privacy. I have them hanging in my dining room and they look really nice and the quality is almost as nice as my real silk dupioni drapes at a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to add a touch of elegance without breaking the bank.
These panels are beautiful! I read the reviews before I bought them and most people talked about how wrinkled they are when they arrive. I ordered anyway and I'm glad I did. Yes they were very wrinkled but I used my iron on the silk setting( with steam) and ironed them with the grain of the silk (this is important,as the wrinkles disappeared once I ironed them with the grain instead of back and forth). They look terrific in my dining room and the color I ordered(grey) is perfect. I highly recommend these...ironing only took a short amount of time. The price is amazing for the quality of these. The black out feature is very good also, although that was not my main reason for purchasing these curtains.
These curtains turned out almost exactly as I expected and I love them. I read a few negative reviews and was almost scared to order, but then realize there are those types of people who have to complain about everything. There were many good reviews too that said the color was off from the picture. I thought it was spot on. The only thing that seemed off is the henna print does seem a little larger in person, however I am okay with that and think it still looks good. One lady suggested ordering one panel at a time in case you had to send them back and this is what I did. Overstock then sent me a XX% off email and I used it on the next panel. Oh and one last thing....I'm a fabric freak and usually pay attention to what type of fabric something is, but forgot to do that this time. I did think it would be some sort of heavy cotton and it is more of a silky fabric. My room is very casual, but you can't tell it is silky unless you get right up to it and touch it.
Upstairs bedroom with big wide full morning sun windows. Bought 6 panels and sewed together three for each side of the window and it worked out great! I left a small space between the two large panels I created to show how well these worked for me. Sewing them together works well, just use a large stitch and start from the bottom where you could see any slight difference in length from manufacturer. I Hand stitched the top sections of the panel where the rod goes through to complete the finished look. Using a wrap around rod would have given me a tighter look with less light coming through the top but this works well enough for us. I though the price and quality was great and happy with my purchase.
the fabric is very soft and thick and they are wrinkle free even out of the package! I would say these are room darkening curtains but not blackout (at least not like the kind you see in hotels that have a heavy liner). The curtains are high quality and quite substantial. i would say if you are using more than 2 panels on one rod, make sure that your rod can support The weight. I purchased the ivory color. While the background color is ivory there are tan threads running throughout. I kept them because they were good quality though I wish they were solid or perhaps had gray threads to make the hue a little less "brown". They have silver grommets on the top that are quite large. I would definitely recomend.
The overlay adds a delicate lightness to usual heavy blackout curtains. I did pin the two panels together in the middle to avoid any gaps, but that's only because we have sliding glass doors we open often and I wanted to slide the curtains as one solid piece without readjusting the center gap every time. Very pleased how they look and block out sunlight and outside lamp post.
I was worried about purchasing these without a swatch to match with my house but I'm so glad I finally bought them. They are GORGEOUS! Color on the site is perfect depiction. The velvet is a good quality and not a cheap looking pile. The tab option was an unexpected surprise that makes a very clean appearance at the top. If you're on the fence about buying and you love deep blue shades, go for it!!
These curtains are wonderful! We noticed a big difference the first night they were hanging up. It gets cold here in No. California but the curtains help keep the heat from the fireplace in and therefore we are using less wood! Also, the "blackout" effect is super. Close the curtains during the day and you have a movie theater in your own living-room (or whatever room you have the curtains in). The quality of the curtains is outstanding they are heavy-duty without being heavy. I love the grommet feature, it made installing them a breeze and opening and closing the curtains is simply a pull in either direction. What more can I say? I am going to buy more of these curtains for my bedrooms because I love them so much. They are so economical and they keep the heat in. I can't wait to see how they perform in the summer as our windows are West facing and get the full blast of the summer sun - I'm certain they will make a huge difference. Buy some today!
First and foremost, these are GORGEOUS curtains! I bought these curtains in Ivory for my bedroom and it fits perfectly with the rest of my decor. The blackout liner was very soft and flowy, which surprised me considering that these are blackout curtains. The material looks/feels expensive and can fool anyone if you tell them its real silk. However, I definitely wouldnt say these are 100% blackout but more around 98%. On an extremely sunny day, I noticed some sunlight coming through the curtains but it was very subtle and it didnt bother me. Anyway, these are great curtains for an even greater price.
This was my first major purchase with Overstock and so I didn't know what to expect. The color of these curtains is spot on and I couldn't be happier. More importantly, you will not believe how SOFT this velvet is! They look so classy hanging in our Master Bedroom and they were not wrinkled a bit from being packaged up. They are also beautifully lined with a cream backing AND they are weighted at the bottom....something that I didn't expect. The description also does not mention the extra reinforced strip on the back of the rod pocket. I bet that you could put rod clips/hooks in there if you needed to. If you want a high-end and custom look, but don't want to pay the price, these curtains are the next best thing. They are gorgeous and they are stunning hanging on brushed nickel rods. Don't hesitate to purchase these. I have been pricing out custom curtains and I know what I am saying when I tell you that they are excellent quality at a supurb price!
I am very happy with these beautiful drapes. My bedroom faces southeast and theses drapes have achieved what no other drape has! They darken the room, they keep the room at a more comfortable temperature, the room sounds warm and inviting and they look fantastic. And I LOVE that they are extra wide. They just look beautiful with my cream colored furniture. I now want to buy some more of these in a different color for other rooms in my house.
